Sensitive, Tough, And Light
Bought this 7' one piece medium action/fast rod as an upgrade for panfish and trout. In the last 3 weeks, I've taken 11 nice 2 plus lb bass along with plenty of large panfish. Very sensitive for finesse presentations, and the fast action means fun battles with plenty of spine when needed to keep the big guys from brush piles. I've paired with a Pflueger President size 20 reel and Berkley Sufix or Trilene XT 4 lb line with a 6# Flourocarbon leader. Casting is wonderful, controlled, predictable and accurate with the lighter line and rigs near the 1/8 minimum for this rod. Only takeaway is the reel mount, which places your fingers on the base of the spinning reel with no cork or EVA under. Gets a bit uncomfortable after a few hours compared to my Berkley or Fenwick predecessors, and just would be unbearable for cold temperature Spring or late Fall fishing.
