Wide Is Still Way Too Narrow

My current pair of low-cut hiking shoes are the X Ultra GTX 2's in a size 10. I have a wide fore- and mid-foot with a fairly narrow heel, and those shoes fit me pretty well. However, even with the wide version of these in size 10, the midfoot is still way too narrow, and half my foot is extending beyond the sole at its narrowest point, meaning the midfoot is digging into my arch really uncomfortably. These are not truly a "wide" fit shoe; I've worn standard "D" width shoes that are wider than these (which are supposed to be "EE"). I really wanted to like these shoes, as I'm a fan of the quick lacing system, and the cushioning feels fantastic and my heel is cupped really well; however, the narrow midfoot section is a complete dealbreaker. Please consider revising your sole sizing measurements appropriately.

Very Comfortable

Boots are light weight, waterproof, easy to lace up and very comfortable. I bought the 12 wide about 3 weeks ago and have hiked about 150 km in them. I find that you feel rocks more than with my Quest 4Ds but that’s to be expected with a light weight boot which is better suited to smoother terrain. Grip is very good. Hope durability is as good as my other Salomon boots.

Just Not The Same Support As The X Ultra 4 Mid Gor

I have own several pairs of the X ultra 4 Mid Gore-tex and have enjoyed them. To the point that I have owned several pairs, and only replaced after many miles of walking and hiking have worn out the tread. The shoes all look good. With that said, I was excited to purchase the new X Ultra 5. Not so much after a few dozen miles. They do not give the support to the mid foot that the 4s did. They are light weight,, the traction is amazing, but no matter how hard I pull at the laces, there is just no support to the mid foot. More like trying to wear slippers while hiking. They will come my going out to town shoes, and I will purchase another pair of Ultra 4s if I can find them

Great Boot!

I wore these for the first time and dis not want to take them off. We took them out west to hike in Yellowstone and were extremely comfortable and also had great ankle support which was a huge plus for me due to weak ankles. The shoes strings kept coming untied that was the only headache. I believe once the string get some wear in them it will be fine or just double knit them.

New Model

Been wearing these since I got them, very comfortable, light, excellent fit. Once they form-fit to your feet, these are very sturdy and comfortable for work, hiking and everyday wear
