Mr. Catfish Reel Size 70

I’ve had this reel for a couple years and can’t understand the bad reviews. I’ve had amazing luck with this reel. I put it on a 12ft big water ugly stick with 80lb braid. One night I got snagged and quite upset. I tightened the drag down and gave everything it had! I ended up pulling a 14” diameter by 7ft long log in to the shore and the line finally snapped when the log began to surface 4’ from the bank. I’m still using the same setup today and have just recently bought a new pair for this upcoming flathead season!

Works For Me

These pictures of are catfish I caught on $19.88 Lew’s Mr. Catfish combo in three trips between Thanksgiving week 2018 and Jan18, 2019. Replaced the line with 50 pound braid and 50 pound mono leader. The biggest was 51” and is laying beside my rod. The big fish fights lasted from 14 to 16 minutes and the reel peeled plenty of drag. It also kept pace when the fish ran towards me. The rod bowed nearly to a U. The whole rig might fall apart next trip, but, so far, I have gotten my money’s worth out of it.

The reel reels in good but you can’t cast far, I can cast at least 100 yards normally with this it is only maybe 20 feet
