I ordered my Askov Finlayson Winter Parka from Public Lands in early November 2023. I was excited to test out the parka in 17 F (windy and snowy) weather given the strong reviews. Unfortunately, this was when I first experienced really cold shoulders in the sharp cold wind. I was confused since the rest of the parka provided tremendous warmth. Upon closer inspection, the parka lacks insulation over a 4 inch section by the shoulder areas (both sides). It literally feels like just the external fabric from the front to the back side of the sleeve (no insulation in those spots). Perhaps this was a manufacturing defect…?
I loved Askov Finlayson’s sustainable mission and was really looking forward to this parka. The snug fit, design, and its superb number of pockets made me really happy (hence 3 stars). The literal cold shoulders really disappointed me… Their customer service (service@askovfinlayson.com) is quick to generate an instantaneous auto-response, but I have yet to hear back from my 11/22/23 email to their company. It’s worthwhile to note that Askov Finlayson has different product support policies for products sold directly from their site versus partner agencies (like Public Lands).
