I bought this Catfish rod and reel combo to have something more sturdy.. It doesn’t even out perform a $25 Shakespeare Combo from 5 years ago. The rod seems to have a very nice backbone, but every time you try to hook into a fish it fails. Circle hooks aren’t good to use on these either, because they really don’t set on this combo at all. The first ever catfish I caught on this was a 2-4lb channel, my drag was maxed out and the fish was pulling line out. It’s ridiculous considering the drag limit for this combo. The bite alert is also horrendous, and doesn’t work. Please save your money 😂

Great For Show But After Catching A 30
I wouldn't call it a medium heavy rod after catching a 20-in drum it has never worked the same it only lasted me 2 weeks. I wouldn't recommend this if you're trying to catch anything bigger than 20 in.
