I had these Vasque talus for 7 years. I hike almost every day, and calculated that my old German Shepherd dog and I have walked enough miles to cross the USA. The tread on the bottom was finally smoothed out, so I had to throw then away, but it made me so sad, I kept the laces for sentimental reasons.

I decided to randomly try this brand and to my surprised they were comfy right off the bat. For reference I have a narrow foot and low arch. I bought them, didn’t break them in at all, and hiked 30 miles in 3 days without ANY issue. Probably about 40-50 miles in one of the shoe lace holders broke. These boots were used in Michigan, Oregon, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Wisconsin, and all throughout Minnesota. I just got back from a 16 mile hiking trip in two days and I have blisters on my big toe. I had the worst foot and joint (hips and knees) pain I have ever had while hiking. In a little over two years of me having them I put about 130-140 miles on them (based on my Apple Watch tracker which I have found to be more accurate than my hiking partners watches she’s had over the years). With a quick google search many references state a good pair should last you 500-900 miles or 10 miles each week for a year. But none the less these were great boots for the most part. I did at lot of hiking on pretty tough terrain so that definitely can play a role but who knows. I mainly also do all my hiking in spring and fall. All I know is I think it’s time to retire these and try something new after all that pain. All in all they are great for your average hiking person with a narrow foot.

These were my first real hiking boots when I was 18 and I wore them for years. I love the Vibram sole and the support at the ankle. the grip is amazing! The only problem I have it that my feet grew!!! I'm an 11.5 or 12 now and they are just too tight (although I wore them for a year after realizing and I STILL didn't get any blisters and my feet were almost comfortable). If these shoes are ever made in a larger size I would buy them in a heartbeat.

I bought my first pair of vasque talus from scheels in 2020. I've done miles and miles of hiking in Rocky mountain national, Aspen, glacier National, Yellowstone, grand tetons, and just on the trails in wisconsin for the last 3 years and they're still in great shape! Here to buy a second pair to have ready to go just in case especially with a trip to the national parks in Utah and Arizona coming up. They are true to size (I'm usually a 9.5 and that's what fit), keeps my foot and ankle stable, and keep my square toes comfortable without pinching them

I have worn Vasque Talus boots for at least 15 years now. Last season, my many year old pair finally needed to be retired. After reading many reviews of how the most recent Talus design was lacking, I tried no less than three other brands. Each of the other brands cut huge blisters and did not perform. I returned to the Talus, despite the reviews. My first hike in them was 15 miles, through 6" deep wet, heavy snow. My feet remained impeccably dry. There was not a hint of moisture inside the boot. I cut no blisters. My second hike in them was 15 miles through variable conditions of mud, marsh and desert. Again, no moisture inside the boot and no blisters. I continue to be impressed.

I bought these boots in January 2022, started wearing them in April, nevertheless, the rubber toe protector is too small, it should overlap a little bit more on the toes because it wears too fast. I have not used them extensively and as of July, the rubber part started to lift. I think it is a design problem. Otherwise, they are confortable, waterproof, but the sole could be more gripping. I recommend that you extend the rubber part and they would be perfect! I don't know if they are still under warranty but if yes, I would like another pair!!!

I wore these boots hiking in Boulder, CO and boy oh boy was I impressed. They were lightweight enough to stay nimble and kept my feet totally dry. The ankle support was fabulous, as I had a few moments where the snow/uneven ground made for an uneasy couple of steps. I can't wait to get back into the mountains and wear these bad boys again!

these are lightweight and are waterproof which I love in the warmer months when I don't want to wear chacos or tevas and need a bit more grip and support around my ankle. These are the ultimate go to whenever I want to hike in the Spring and Summer. They're super reliable and with thinner wool socks they're great. I always size up a half size in hiking boots to give myself extra movement when going downhill or uphill so my toes don't pinch and these fit perfectly. Because the outer is leather I'm already feeling like my feet are forming inside like a glove.

I bought these maybe 4 years ago after having had a pair of Vasque hiking boots for ~12 years that were not only amazingly comfortable but also took 12 years to wear out. I hoped to have the same experience with this pair. They are now cracked in the leather in one place and starting to lose their waterproofness in the toes. I'm really sad because I would tell anyone who would listen to get themselves some Vasque boots, and now I don't recommend them and will be looking for a new pair years earlier than I hoped. :(

These boots caught my eye because they go up a bit higher than the ankle, but not high enough that they restrict movement. Any additional inches to keep water and dust out and to keep my ankles safe are great! These are my first Vasques; I changed brands after wearing out my last pair sooner than expected. I've had these boots for five months and I'm still impressed. I have a long, narrow foot with a high arch and these fit wonderfully. Pros - Feet feel great after long days of backpacking and hiking, feet have remained dry when crossing shallow water, the boots are extremely lightweight, feet have remained dirt-free after traveling along dusty trails, the leather has held up well, and these boots never fail to receive compliments from other hikers (aka they look great!). Con - The traction is not great compared to other brands; however, it is also better than other brands I've tried. Overall, I love these boots and will buy again!

I tried a LOT of hiking boots before settling on the Vasque Talus. My first trek with them was Mt. Lafayette in the White Mountains on a 15 degree day. For the first time in years, my feet stayed warm and dry. Normally, my feet sweat which adds to the chill factor, but not in these. No break-in period and no complaints. Since hiking in the White Mountains I have also hiked through wet terrain and again, no wet feet. They're so comfortable, that I don't even want to take them off at the end of the day~

I bought shoes a month ago for gf and she love how comfortable they are. She is Looking forward to wearing them in the winter since they keep feet dry. I own 3 pairs my self.

I keep buying these because they're great. In my experience, they stay totally waterproof for about 3 years with no treatment. Very comfortable with short break-in period. Keep in mind these new models are way smaller than previous generations. The "wide" fit is actually normal width, and the "normal" is very narrow. Go a half size up in wide width. Go a full size up if you like your boots to be roomy with super-thick socks.

I bought a pair of Vasque Talus shoes about 3 years ago and fell in love with them. They were durable, waterproof, and super comfy. When it was time to buy a new hiking boot, I knew exactly what I wanted, another pair of Vasque Talus. After hiking for about 3 hours, I noticed the sole was starting to come off of the boots. After the rest of the 5 day hiking trip there was a lot more damage to the sole as well as the side were already wearing out. This should not happen after a one week hiking trip! I sure hope this is just the specific shoe and not a problem with the brand as a whole.

I bought this pair of boots about a month ago and love them so far. The sole is pretty firm and great for rougher terrain but the upper is comfortable. I like the mid-height versus a full boot as I feel like it provides ankle support without being constrictive (as someone who used to wear hiking shoes). I bought them with the intention for longer hikes but they didn't feel like "too much" on a short fire road trail either. They seem VERY durable. I typically wear a 7 or 7.5 in regular shoes/sandals; I tried both the 7.5 and the 7.5W and glad I had a little more room in the toe box.
