Nice Rod, Garbage Reel

Rod feels very nice. Comfortable grips and very light. I imagine this is what makes up at least 90% of the price tag. The reel is an absolute piece of trash. Not only did it come underspooled, but the little nut that holds the retrieve lever on constantly comes undone. If the cover of the reel isn't screwed on very tightly, the cast button will fail every time. You can feel the gears turning when you retrieve; it is not smooth at all. And get ready to spend extra time retrieving, because a low gear ratio will take a while to bring the line back. I would only recommend purchasing if you plan on keeping the rod and upgrading the reel, as I did, or if you're going to just keep this combo in your car to use every so often or to loan out to people.

Worked Great For 3 Weeks!

This rod and reel combo was terrific for 3 weeks. Smooth release and winding back in. It can cast far too. The release button is plastic and where it presses into the metel gears, thr plastic was too brittle and broke off rendering the reel useless.

Bought for my 17yr old. He loves it and I’ve us d it a few times. Smooth operation and strong but sensitive rod.

Fell Far Below Expectations

The pole has a good quality feel and the split handle was balanced well. The drag was hard to set as it comes with a thumb dial. With the 10lb line, I tried setting the drag to about 2.5lbs and even with my digital scale, it would fly over that mark it come way under. The worst thing however was 20 minutes into using this reel, the spin handle came off the reel and went into the water. The nut that fastened the spin handle to the reel flew off causing this failure. I had only 5 to 6 casts before the reel fell apart. I would not recommend this combo to anyone unfortunately.
