The Reel Is What Made This Imperfect

I been wanting the Ugly Stik Carbon for a while, and I was not disappointed by how light it is. Being a two piece, I am surprised by how sensitive it still is. The only reason for 3 stars was the reel that came with it. Being on sale, it was a real good deal, but the reel isn't to my liking. Even the cheaper Lew's Hero combo reel feel smoother on the retrieval.

Good Rod, Nice Action, So-so Value

Rod felt good and has decent action. Not sure the combo is worth the money at this price point. I may elect to buy a rod and reel separately in the future, unless this is on sale.

My Husband Loves This Fishing Pole

Ugly Stick Carbon

I PURCHASED THIS ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND HAVE BEEN USING IT REGULARLY AND I LIKE IT QUITE A BIT. I DID HAVE A PROBLEM THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED WITH A NEW ROD. THE PROCEDURE TO INSTALL THE REEL THE GLUE CAUSED IT TO FALL APART. WHILE CASTING THE REEL ACTUALLY FELL OFF. I HAD TO BRING IT HOME AND USE CRAZY GLUE TO MAKE THE REPAIR. THE ROD ITSELF, OTHER THAN THAT IS GREAT AND I DO LIKE IT ALOT

Well Made, Nice Balance. There Is A But...

I am very happy with the product. I am very unhappy that the very helpful and well-meaning salesman in the fishing department at Dick’s spools the fishing line on the reel backwards. I am not a regular person who goes fishing and it took an hour and a half and my son to figure out that the spool was wound the wrong way! Thank goodness I was on vacation and had all the time in the world to finally figure it out. I thought everybody should know this. The automatic spoiling machine does not always work so well if the operator doesn’t know what they’re doing.
