A solid and durable construction, the Thule® Trailway Hitch Mount 2-Bike Rack transports your bikes safely to the trails or course. This car rack fits both 1 ¼” and 2” receivers with the included adaptor. Fit up to 2 bikes in the anti-sway cages for secured protection and travel. When you’re not biking, the switch levers allow the arms to fold down and tilt the carrier away from the car.

I agree with the missing link, the straps that hold the bike onto the rack are very difficult to loosen, took me a while to loosen the straps to remove the bike, the rack is very heavy, the rack Bolts onto the receiver which makes it difficult to remove, i would rather have the pin instead of the boat for easy removal.

Love this bike rack! Easy to attach to both of my vehicles.

The rack fits snugly into the tow bar hitch. The moveable parts snap solidly into place. However, the ratcheting plastic straps with this carrier are difficult to unfasten. And when I traveled for several hours at 70mph, the straps began to work loose, and the bike slipped out of the cradle. I needed to buy tow straps to fasten the bike securely in place.

Bike rack is falling apart already. The sales person whom I purchased the bike from said it was a really good product. Thanks

We needed something fast for a trip and took a chance on this. Other reviews mentioned needing extra parts; I think this is correct for bikes that don't have the traditional "male" frame with the crossbar from below the seat to the handlebar, but I did not need anything to attach to the trailer hitch. The included parts kept the rack very stable to the hitch and the bikes to the rack itself. As noted in other reviews, pay attention to the instructions, there are anti-sway parts that help keep the bikes from moving side-to-side, and a strap that loops between the bikes and the base of the rack to help keep them from moving back-and-forth. The bikes stayed nice and stable on our trip.

After studying some of the other reviews I purchased this carrier for my SUV and tried it out yesterday on a 60 mile trip to a local bike trail. The rack was set up in no time and the my bike (traditional design) fit on the rack with no issues at all. It’s important to tighten the rubber straps rather hard to prevent the bike from tilting or slipping sideways, and I would also recommend installing the additional no-sway bracket as well the the additional polyester strap (both come with the carrier) securing the bike firmly against the carrier while the car is in motion. After installing all those straps and brackets, less than 5 minutes, the bike felt very secure. While driving, sometimes up to 75 mph, I watched the bike in the rear view mirror. No vibrations, no moving parts, no swaying. When back home it took one minutes to detach the carrier from the car. Overall, it’s a great carrier and exceeded my expectations. Would definitely buy again.

Only had it a week. Install was easy on Toyota Venza with Uhaul 2" trailer hitch. I will order the thule locking bolt. Mounting bikes is easy (trek mountain bike and another commuter type bike with non-parallel cross bars). Bikes are stable on the highway. Rack is stable and quite on the road (no thuds or squeaks). Rack's drop position give me plenty of access to car's hatchback door. I will update as I get more time the hitch. Only reason for 4 of 5 is I want to see how it works over the next month or so.

overall good. the bolt used to attach to the hitch is cumbersome to screw in, the accompanying wrench could be more user friendly.

Studier than I expected. 75 to 80 mph on the interstate and remained tightly secured, and it carries a heavy load. I purchased it to carry my walker with a built in seat. It is easily loaded and secured, also unloads easily.

It's been doing the job. It's sturdy but there is too much wiggle in the lower neck where you release (to drop low) it to allow the tailgate/hatchback of your vehicle to open. Instructions aren't so great. I guess I'm supposed to know that the holders (with the straps) can be moved farther away from each other so that my two bikes have more space. I have wasted money because reviewers have suggested purchasing the $35+ Thule lock kit with the longer bolt. I found out that full-service brush car washes will not accept the car with the bike rack on it. At Lowe's today, I bought a 5/8 hitch pin with a lock (and keys) for $16, which means that I can now remove the bike rack easily (without needing a wrench to unscrew the tightly torqued bolts, which could be either the short bolt that came with it or the longer Thule screw-in bolt with the lock that I bought separtaely.) So, this is a real "duh" moment. After wasting money in the Thule bolt with lock, at least with the Lowe's hitch pin it can be easily removed to get a full service car wash. I live in Pittsburgh, so I don't anticipate riding during the cold, snowy, and salty-street cold season. I need to remove it during the off season.
