Heavy Duty Bike Carrier For Your Tow Hitch

The carrier is very well made and heavy. Made in USA. It attaches to your tow hitch via an insert. It sits tight with no wobble as a bar mechanism is tightened by a dial moves the bar tight in the hitch slot, and locks after it's tightened, so it stays put. A locking bar inserts into the hitch hole as a safety catch. The instructions are pictograms that are terrible... too smalI with no explanations. I had to view three U-Tube videos to understand how to attached the straps for the bicycles. There should be more detailed photos and "plain English" instructions on how to assemble the carrier. That's the reason for the four stars out of five.

An Attractive Sturdy Rack.

All was well as expected until my third road trip where the straps released and left my bike hanging out in five lines of Florida Turnpike traffic. A terrifying experience. my paddle board nylon straps with cam buckles never failed in over 500 triPs.

Will Not Unlock

I can not get this rack of of my car. The knob either completely locks in place or it spins with no resistance.

Great For Two Bokes

Bought this a month ago and used it a lot. Only issue is the plastic wheel failed and tightening the hitch connect is difficult

Hard To Set Up But Super Secure

I bought this so I can bike more after work before I have to pick up my kids - trying to juggle being a working parent and staying in shape. It was pretty hard to assemble, I won’t lie. But several YouTube videos later (the instructions were all pictures, no words - not very helpful), it’s on and I love it. Some reviews have complained of wobble, I haven’t found that to be an issue at all! Doesn’t move at all even when I put 70 on the highway. Keeps my bike super secure and has really helped me exercise more :) I love the feature to tilt the bike rack and base down so I can still access my trunk easily, too. I would definitely recommend but plan to spend a few hours putting it together.

Great Upgrade From Older Thule Model

My original Thule lasted about 20+ years. The new one is a little heavier, but much more durable and easier to use. Love it.

Excellent Design, Still Needed Work To Install

I bought the two-bike rack to hold two E-road bikes (Trek Domane+, 32 lbs each). Fortunately, I had a couple of hitch extenders to choose the shortest one to clear the bumper. The harder problem was that the bikes conflicted such that the top tubes could not seat properly on the cradles. After lots of trial/error, I had to do something that was not in the manual. I removed the guide screws so that I could pull the frame cradles farther apart than the original 7" spacing. I got an extra inch or so, and now the bikes are completely free-hanging. I re-tapped the screw holes for just the outer cradles and it is all secure. I'm 1500 miles into a cross-country trip and it is working well. I like the anti-sway strap and hope that the ratchet straps are durable. I like the cable lock, but the key insertion is temperamental. Maybe a shot of WD-40? I just don't know why our bikes, with regular road bike geometry didn't fit. And unless I missed an easier solution, why did the design lock in at 7" spacing when the bars are long enough for wider? A response is appreciated.

Thule Bike Rack Fit Perfectly!

I was very impressed that this Thule Bike rack slid right into the hitch and did everything it was suppose to do with no glitch! Well engineered.

I have used this several times in the last month. It is super easy to install and remove. Highly recommended.

Pretty Good So Far

Seems to be mostly solid. Was not that difficult to put together. It is a little loose, so it rattles slightly (not at the hitch, but in the middle of the rack itself). The straps are horribly designed. I might try to figure out new straps, but I shouldn’t have to at this price point.

Brocken Strap

Great Bike Rack

I had another Thule 4 person bike rack that I loved. After 20 years the rubber strap’s disintegrated which was to be expected in the Tucson sun. I bought the 2 person rack and it works great but the instructions for constructing the bike rack are stupid. The first step is wrong. The photo shows using the provided Allen wrench to insert in an hole and create a “click”! No! You need to insert a screw to get the apparatus to click. No screw is shown in the step #1 diagram. We were able to get the rack put together but it was difficult and frustrating and those instructions need to be written by someone who actually has put this together and in addition to the photos there n Ed’s to be clearly written instructions.

Great Buy

I just purchased the Thule Apex XT and used it last weekend. Super easy to put together. Solid construction. Doesn't vibrate. Very sturdy. Easy to to load bikes and take them back off. Lock system works well.
