Thank you ExpertVoice and The North Face for this opportunity to test this product! I tested the The North Face Nuketo Synthetic Insulated Jacket on a backpacking trip at elevations between 4,000 and 6,000 feet. Temperatures were pretty warm—between 40-70F. In addition to evenings around camp, I spent time outside into the middle of the night doing photography. When layered over a base layer and lightweight hooded jacket, it kept me warm. I have also used it in the evening on cooler nights walking in town. I really like the large zip cell phone pocket over the left breast—it’s a great size and very convenient. The two zip hand pockets are also useful, although there are no interior pockets. For me, the biggest drawback is the fit. Despite having a short torso, the jacket is quite boxy and surprisingly cropped, and there are no adjustments at the cuffs or hem. This allows heat to escape around the hips and sleeves, and the boxy cut makes my whole upper body look wider than it is. I would reach for this jacket much more often if it had a more streamlined fit or was adjustable at the hem. Additionally, when the hand pockets are left open, the jacket appears even wider. This does not fit like a women’s jacket. I would say overall, the fit is true to size. For backpacking, it’s fairly lightweight and warm, but it also doesn’t compress down as small as I would prefer for carrying in a pack. It would be a good jacket for throwing on during an evening fall walk if you don’t care about keeping your hips warm and are not looking to feel stylish. Overall, it’s a warm, fairly lightweight synthetic jacket that performed well in cooler conditions, but the boxy, short fit and lack of hem/cuff adjustments keep it from being an ideal jacket for me. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket would be a great accessory to any mountain town outings, winter stylish events, or anything where you want to stay warm, look stylish, and aren’t too concerned about the functionality of a winter jacket. I found the fit to be more of a crop-top, boxy, airy style. It was bigger in the torso, smaller near the forearms and wrist. This was also a bulky jacket. It bunched up on the shoulders and under the arms. When I lifted my arms, the jacket raised up considerably. I would not buy this for any easier/moderate to serious outdoor adventures such as longer winter hikes or outings. To me, this is solely a stylish jacket that’s on the warmer side that I’d grab for date nights, winter weddings, etc. I did enjoy the warmth and feeling of this jacket, I stashed this in my bag for a car camping trip and found it to be adequate for that environment. Overall, it was a nice synthetic jacket. I’m personally not a fan of crop top style and even though this wasn’t an “actual crop top” jacket, the shortness of the torso really made this feel like a crop top to me, which was hard to get comfortable in.

I tested this jacket around Interior Alaska, including berry picking and a quick overnight backpacking trip to hike on a glacier. Everything from sunny weather to cold and wet conditions was experienced. Overall, it’s a comfortable jacket with a good fit that’s easy to move around in and layer under. The style is definitely a 10/10! It looks great and works well for everyday wear. My biggest issue was warmth. Compared to my other insulating layers, I didn’t find this jacket warm enough for harsher Fairbanks summer weather, so it wouldn’t be my go-to for colder conditions. For milder weather, I think it’s a solid option, but I’d like more warmth and functionality. Great looking jacket, just not quite enough performance for how I use my gear in Alaska.

I like this cut as it fits layering underneath much easier from tshirts to slightly oversized hoodie sweatshirts without feeling tight or bunchy. Received size small and had plenty of room, but not too big. Comfortably loose but not sloppy in fit. Didn't receive 5 stars because sleeves could have been at least an inch or two longer for my liking. I liked the style with being a boxier-straight cut, yet still looked nice on. Able to wear out hiking and turn around and wear to out for a burger afterwards without looking to "sporty or outdoorsy". Body length was perfect, much better than a mid-hip length which generally doesn't fit me well. This jacket hits right at upper hip length so very flattering in fit and style. Cut and slight stretch to jacket made for everyday activities to be comfortable and great mobility. This jacket is a good choice for outdoors, everyday activities and is a good value for the versitility, fit and comfort. I think this jacket is flexible enought for whatever use you would desire. I used it mostly in the mornings and evenings when the weather cooled off. Below are my thoughts. Pros The jacket is comfortable with nice external pockets. It had plenty of warmth with the temps getting into the 50s. I'll be curious how it performs in colder temps. There was extra room for layering if needed. It's better suited for casual and everyday use instead of hiking. Cons The jacket didn't have internal pockets, which would be nice to have. I didn't care for the fit or style of the jacket. I used it primarily at work while stocking dairy and working in our dairy cooler. It gets very cold and I stayed so nice and warm. I do think the fit is a little boxy and would like it better if it was fitted. It is also a bit noisy when the material rubs against itself , like sleeves rubbing the bodice. I will definitely wear it in times of needing stay warm! I also received a lot of compliments! It does fit true to size, I ordered a medium which is my usual size and it fit great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tested the Nuketo Synthetic Insulated Jacket for daily use and on alpine hikes in Colorado. Overall, I found it to be a stylish and comfortable piece. I ordered a size small, with hopes to layer underneath. However, because of its cropped cut, it feels a bit awkward over layers unless those items are cropped as well. Without layers, the jacket comfort is excellent. It isn't scratchy, and when sweating on my hikes, it didn't feel like I was wearing a trash bag. I also thought the mobility is great, allowing full freedom of movement in any position. The sleeves were slightly long on me, though my arms are on the shorter side. I could see how the fit might be awkward for a taller person. Visually, I like the style, but at 5'0", I think the relaxed fit looks a bit boxy on my frame. Sizing down may help. What I disliked most about the jacket was the strong, distracting odor. Even after airing it out for a week, it had a smell that I often smell on cheap clothing. A somewhat of a burnt plastic smell. It was noticeably distracting when standing in still air. This jacket is best suited for casual wear. While it kept me warm on a morning alpine hike in the 40s (°F) at 10,000 ft, it lacks technical features: the boxy cut caused it to bunch up at the chest under a daypack, it doesn’t seem like it is designed to accommodate hip belts, and its packability is standard for synthetic insulation. I definitely will wear this jacket for everyday adventures and I also plan to bring it along for camping or bouldering at the local crag. It meets every expectation I have for a jacket I would want to wear while commuting or running errands around town, but I would not rely on it for technical adventures where packing efficiency and serious insulation are essential. I love the hip length which gives it a semi cropped look. It pairs well with daily clothing and looks sharp casual or dressed up for work commutes. I was able to wear this for errands such as grocery shopping and mail pick up as well as lounging in the crisp mornings for coffee. Sadly, I tested this coat during a triple digit Utah heat wave, but I can hardly wait to have this in my daily arsenal once fall comes! My favorite details are the warmth without being too toasty along with the zippered hand and left chest pocket for storing essentials. I look forward to watching my kiddos in their sports activities this fall while wearing this sporty, chic puffy! It was perfect for the nights that are starting to cool down as August is coming to an end. When I purchase jackets, I usually size up because I love the option of putting layers/sweaters underneath. And that is what I did here. Per the photo, you can see that the coat is a bit big on me, but it will work great as days get colder and colder with layers. It is a very relaxed fit- I didn’t feel as though the shape was geared towards a woman's body. I am all for the durable, water repellent outer material. I spilled water all over myself and it didn’t soak in at all. The zippers are very durable, and pockets are sizable. Overall, a great, light coat for crisp days! It has quickly become one of my go-to layers for everyday errands, whether I'm running to the grocery store, grabbing breakfast, or heading out on a morning walk. (I can’t wait to try as the weather gets even cooler!) At 5'4" and about 130 pounds, I ordered a size Small, and it fit just right. The jacket feels comfortably snug without being restrictive, which makes it easy to move around during daily activities. The fit is true to size, though I do wonder if sizing up to a Medium would provide a bit of extra length and therefore additional warmth during the colder winter months. The coldest temperatures I've worn it in have been in the 60s, and it provided sufficient warmth in those conditions. While I have not yet tested it in frigid winter weather, I suspect it may not be the first jacket I reach for in below-freezing temperatures due to its shorter length. That said, it layers easily over a long-sleeve shirt or light sweater/hoodie, which adds versatility and warmth. From a style standpoint, this jacket stands out. I love the subtle checkered texture of the fabric, the stand collar, and thoughtful details like the breast pocket and sleeve cinching. The fit looks polished enough for casual outings while still feeling functional. I also wore it in the rain and was impressed by how the water repellency held up. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket has quickly become my go to layer for cool weather hiking and camping trips. Comfort wise, it exceeded expectations. I wore it on several cool weather hikes with just a short sleeve layer underneath and had full range of motion in my arms the entire time. Fit wise, it runs true to size. I am 5’7” and 155lb, and a medium fit me perfectly. It is also just a super cute style, I love that it is shorter in length, and while that means a little less coverage on the hips, it still works great for the intended use while keeping the look cute. This jacket is great for layering. I tested it with a lightweight merino wool base layer, both long and short sleeve versions, and the fit accommodated both without feeling bulky or restrictive. I could move freely no matter what I had on underneath. As for warmth, it performed great in the 45 to 60 degree range, which made it ideal for cool evenings around camp and hikes in cool weather. If temperatures dropped lower than that, I would want to add another layer underneath, but for the conditions I experienced, it kept me comfortable. Mobility is a strong point overall. I never felt held back while hiking or setting up camp. The one thing I noticed is that during overhead movements, the jacket tends to lift away from the hips a bit, so that is worth keeping in mind if you are doing a lot of reaching or climbing. This jacket is best suited for anyone looking for a layer for hiking, camping, fishing, or any outdoor activity in cooler evening or fall temperatures. I wore it hiking in the northwoods of Wisconsin and while camping in the mountains of Western North Carolina, and it performed great both times in cool weather conditions. This jacket is the perfect cool evening summer and fall mountain weather piece, versatile enough for hiking, camping and everyday wear, all while looking cute. Given how often I have used it and how well it performs, I think it offers great value for anyone looking for a reliable insulated layer. I appreciate that it is lightweight enough to carry as an extra layer, and packs down small enough to fit inside even my smaller hiking packs. I spend a lot of time hiking along mountain peaks, and the weather can change suddenly so it’s important for me to have extra layers. I have worn the jacket on cooler mornings, where the temps are in the low 50s. It does a good job of holding in warmth without feeling weighed down. I plan to use it on winter hikes as well, and it fits very well under my hardshell jacket. As far as sizing, I ordered a small which is my usual size in North Face clothing. It fit as expected, not too tight, and there’s a bit of room underneath for extra layers in the winter. I really like that it doesn’t feel tight or restrictive in the shoulders, and allows for good mobility while hiking. If you are looking for a lightweight jacket for fall hikes I think this is a perfect option. It also has the durability and warmth to be used in the winter, underneath a waterproof/windproof layer. It is comfortable enough to wear casually as well, and I like the fit and look of the jacket.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The North Face Nuketo Synthetic Insulated Jacket is a great shoulder season jacket that excels in everyday life and recreational use. It’s comfortable whether it’s layered over a tee shirt or long sleeved layer. Pack it to reach for at the summit when you’re out peak bagging, or wear it out in the evenings if you live in a variable climate like I do. I’ve been wearing this jacket during the cool evenings here in southern Colorado, including while recreating at Great Sand Dunes after sunset— when the temperature drops quickly, and a jacket like this is clutch. I’ve had it with me while camping, and it adds the perfect warmth when the weather turns chilly. The options are endless for this lightweight but warm layer, and it doesn’t feel heavy or burdensome. While I love the idea behind the jacket, and its usefulness, the fit is not ideal for me: the sleeves are much too short when I raise my arms above waist level, which makes mobility during active pursuits a bit limited. While I have never worn a medium jacket before (at 5’7”, 125-130 lbs, I am always a small top size, across all brands I’ve ever tried), I would choose medium in this product if given another chance. I do think that the boxy nature of the jacket cut, especially in the shoulders, would make a larger-sized jacket look oversized on me. Due to the fit of the women’s product, I think this jacket is likely best suited to everyday activities and casual use, rather than more demanding athletic endeavors. I wore it on a high elevation hike on the shoulder of Mt. Rainier and on a beach hike. The beach hike was warm because it’s August! Once the sun went down it got chilly and my North Face came out! It was cute, comfortable and warm. The mountain hike was much colder but the jacket kept me warm without being too bulky. It allows for easy movement and has spacious pockets including an extra zipper chest pocket. Being summer, I wasn’t wearing an abundance of layers so the jacket was great, but it might not accommodate extra clothing underneath. I feel like it ran a tiny bit small for layering. The sleeves were a touch short on me as well. Consider sizing up if you have long arms or live in a cold climate and plan on lots of layers. However, if you’re just looking for a cute, stylish puffy to wear around town, it should be perfect as-is. There is a simple elastic band around the wrist, vs a cuff with a snap for gloves like some NF puffers have. Overall, love the look, comfort and warmth! It’s going to make winter a little more fun!
