I just got back from my first trip using the North Face Base Camp Duffel in the small size, and I'm already thinking about where I'm taking it next. I've seen these bags around for years and always wondered if they lived up to the hype. Short answer: they do. The moment you pick it up, you can tell this thing is built to last. The material feels bomber - tough and water-resistant without being stiff or awkward to pack. For a short trip, the small size is honestly perfect. It fit everything I needed without being so big that it became a hassle to carry or stow. The handles are comfortable to grip, and the shoulder strap makes it easy to throw over one shoulder when you're navigating a busy airport or tossing it in the back of a car. What surprised me most was how well it organized my stuff. I expected a basic duffel experience, but the layout and pockets made it easy to keep things accessible without digging around. Packing and unpacking was quick and painless. The exterior held up great on the trip - no scuffs, no issues, looks just as good as the day I bought it. I'm also a big fan of how flat it folds down for storage at home when it's not in use. If you're on the fence about the size, I'd say the small is ideal for weekend trips and short getaways. We use this bag for our swim gear and I use it for yoga. It can hold my yoga mat and everything for the shower after. I also love the style and get compliments on how it looks. Masculine but looks good on women too!

Could Be Much Better

Every product I've purchased from north face has exceeded my exp except this one. Lots of room for improvement in terms of zippers, compartments and usability.

Awesome Bag For Travel. I Will Give It A Go !!!

I've just purchased this North Face Base Camp Duffel (Medium) for short trips and weekend travel, and so far it has been awesome. The material feels really tough and durable, the inside has a durable water repellant layer and holds up well even when it gets tossed around in cars or airports. I like the backpack straps too. They make it much easier to sling over my shoulder and carry when the bag is full. Plenty of space for clothes and other gear, and the wide opening makes packing simple. Definitely a solid bag that I expect to use for years. Will see how it holds up over the long term, but this bag is replacing one I bought 25+ years ago which has worked really well over this full period.

I purchased this bag to replace a Base Camp Duffel that I purchased 20+ years ago. This new one looks great & has very sturdy construction. It has some new features compared to my previous bag--like the compartment on the end that is ideal for shoes or keeping damp clothes separated. This bag shrugs off rough treatment --including airport baggage handlers. I highly recommend this bag.

Fits all my stuff! Pretty water proof. I use it as a chair sometimes when traveling and love the backpack straps. If you have see someone traveling, they usually have the medium. That's the best size for carryons, but this is good for long trips and you can squish it down/tighten the straps and it fits as a carryon too.

I Would Definitely Buy Another Base Camp Duffel

I have several base camp duffels and they have been indestructible. Zippers are stout and straps on the big bags are easy to use and come off for air travel. Travelled around the world and they have survived every airport and bus luggage handler. They don't claim to be water proof but it takes a lot for water to enter the bag.
