Excellent mid weight jacket. Not too heavy, packable, and insulates well. Works well under a shell layer. I'll even wear it on its own, I was warm sitting still with no wind with temperatures in the 20's for several hours. Like all 'ultralight' products, this is delicate and one must be mindful of that if using as a stand alone jacket for anything technical. I wish it had a dual zipper so you can get to your waistband but I get by without it.

Great jacket except its too tight in the arm pits. Real bummer. Same thing for a different jacket I have from them. Might want to check the cut measurements.

Incredibly Warm
Like the title suggests, this thing is unbelievably warm and light - it's kept me warm at pretty extreme altitudes and on very cold winter walks. I seriously cannot believe how warm this thing is relative to its weight - I've had it for almost two years and continue to be amazed. One thing to keep in mind (not really a criticism just an FYI): the fabric is somewhat delicate - it can rip easily if you brush up against a rough surface, so keep that in mind!

Good, Basic Insulator But Can Be Improved With Minor Changes
The colors are appealing, and the stitching configuration is also aesthetically pleasing. Two areas definitely need improvement; pit zips for a jacket this warm, and particularly as a mid-layer would be an incredible improvement. Secondly, a way to effectively snug up the hood around the face would help in windy conditions, particularly when used with an outer shell - make those improvements, and you'll have an amazing jacket here for this price point!

Opened It And It Was Damaged
I got this coat as a Xmas gift. When I opened the bag it came in there was a slice in the coat. Not sure when or where it happened. I contacted North Face via the app and got a return label.
