Runs Small. Thicker Material Than Ideal.
Simms has changed the material on the SolarFlex. The new material is thicker and bit itchy vs the past lightweight performance feel. The new version also runs small - so size up accordingly. I am usually a medium, but should have bought a large. I will be returning it though. I miss the old version!

Excellent Product
These hoodies are terrific. Breathable, light, and durable. Sun protection is critical for those days in the boat or wading shoreline in direct sun.

Hot And Tattered
The shirt does not breathe like other sun shirts. The stitching has also has started unraveling in many places after 2 uses.

Get One
SolarFlex for the win. Wore it the entire day for a recent float trip. It was beautiful 85 degrees and I never felt ‘hot’ with the long sleeves and hood up. I need more of these in the closet.

New Solar Flew . . Not A Fan.
Hate writing this bc I love my previous solar flex hoodies. This new material is rough/ abrasive. The fit is weird , short torso, short on the sleeves. Little to no stretch . . feels like woven plastic. Bummer loved the color and design. Couldn’t imagine wearing this on a hot day. . might be down right abrasive

I Prefer The Older Version.
Unfortunately, they changed the material and fit. The new size is tighter - so size up. The material is much thicker. Prefer how the older version was made/fit.

Uncomfortable Material And Fits Small
I’ve had a couple of these hoodies from previous years. They were excellent. When I received this years version, I couldn’t believe the material quality. It felt like a cheap thick plastic bag. The fit was much smaller than my previous XL size. Sorry to say SIMMS completely dropped the ball on this newer version. Going back to the other Hoody company that rhymes with Fatagonia.

The Size Runs Considerably Smaller
The size runs considerably smaller than most other SIMMS fishing shirts. Sleeve length, chest size, etc. , on the XL is much more like a small large, just my opinion.

Itchy
I enjoy the simms products I have. I wear another brand of sun shirt, but wanted to try these. The material is a bit rough and itchy to sit out in the sun all day.

The Best!
This shirt is the best and I wish they would not have changed the material for the 2026 version. The 2026 version is not as stretchy and the sizing is all wrong. They had it PERFECT with this shirt.

Fits Very Small.
I have many pieces if Simms clothing in size XL that fit perfectly. This sun shirt fits like a Large. It fits very very small.

Kept Me Cool In Texas!
Colorado native here, went down to Texas and brought a few of these shirts to keep me cool in that heat down there! Will be buying more and more as time progresses. Looking like these types of shirts are my summer wardrobe going forward.
