Favorite Hiking Shoes

This is my second or third pair. Light as a running shoe with support of a hiking boot. Sadly, it seems like this model has been discontinued.

Disappointing And Expensive Lesson

There is 0 ankle support as the lacing hooks on the upper part of this shoe are in the wrong locations. The result is that you feel like you are falling out of them in the front with the tongue hanging out of the front. I thought it was just me, but then I see other reviews complaining of the same problem. This is so disappointing I bought a higher boot for ankle support and it is impossible. . I can't return them. Hoping I can bring them to a cobbler to allow me to use them... I need shoes for hiking in Peru! Grrrr

Look Great, Hurt To Wear, And Horrid Laces..

I bought these hiking boots about a year ago because in the store they felt like they had great support and I loved the look of them, as well as having read several good reviews on them. After wearing them for several hiking trips and day hikes I have to say they are not very comfortable… Even when wearing thick mid calf socks these boots bruise the inside of my ankles. Additionally, after about 20 minutes of walking in these boots the bottom of my feet, mainly on the ball of my foot kills. Lastly, one of the most frustrating things about these boots is the laces—they do not stay tied no matter how good of a knot, double knot, etc. you do. They come undone after walking in less than a mile. Also, after wearing these just ONE time the neon accents on the sides of the boot already ripped in 2 different places.

Warm

Keeps my feet dry and toasty warm in sub zero weather.

New Boot

Needed a solid, over the ankle water proof hiker for Maine winters. I've had low goretex salomon hikers for ever and have been always been great . The Ultra's are working out great! AND awesome that they come in 9.5 - just right!

Great Shoe!!

I bought these since I needed an ankle height shoe for more stability on certain hikes. I also own the short version of the same shoe and love them so I figured I would be safe trying these out and I was more than happy with them. They are super lightweight and comfortable. They required no break in time for their first 4 miler. I love these shoes!!

Great Boot!

These boots are so great, I bought a pair for my sister in law and mom. Great boot with ankle support and comfort from the beginning. Been on 50+ hikes with these boots and they still work like a charm.

Consistent Quality!

Salomon hiking boots are consistantly the sturdiest boot for my pronated ankles; they're comfortable too! I bought this most recent pair after growing out of my last (if that tells you how wonky my adult feet are). Salomon boots have taken me on pack outs in the Andes and day trips in the Carolinas. Sizing is true to a running shoe, ie half size up from normal wear.

Great Arch Ankle Support

I brought it a month ago and hiked with it three times in total 35 miles. I like it light weighted and especially like the arch and ankle support.

Amazing All Around Shoe

I bought these boots for a multi-day hiking trip in the Smoky Mountains. It rained almost the entire time, and my feet stayed very dry. I broke the boots in some before our trip and had no issues with blisters. I am not used to wearing hiking boots, so they were a little stiff where they hit the back of my leg. I think if I broke them in more, this wouldn't have been as noticeable. The boots provide excellent ankle support! I have a somewhat narrow foot and wore normal weight hiking socks and my feet felt very comfortable. These boots provided good traction in wet weather conditions. In athletic shoes I normally wear either a 7 1/2 or an 8, I sized up to an 8 and was very comfortable. . I would highly recommend these boots.

Love These!!!

I bought these to replace my old pair and I completely love them. They are super comfortable and work great on the trails.

Great Waterproof Shoes

I live in south east Alaska in the rain forest. I just tested my new Salomon during 8 mile hike on a deep muddy trail with rain the same time! My feet stayed dry the whole hike!!! Thank you finally I found the right shoes.

No Blisters

My feet run wide so I ordered the wide sizes of this boot and they're the first pair I've owned that don't absolutely destroy my feet. They've been holding up all season so far (on rough New Hampshire terrain) and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Great traction, 0 break in time needed. My first hike in the was Katahdin and they felt great!

Love / Hate

I have a love, hate relationship with these boots. I love that they work well with my wide, high maintenance feet. I've worn them for 50+ miles without blisters or sore feet. I hate that there is absolutely no ankle support. Regardless of how you tie these, there just isn't proper support. And the laces slip, so I am retying them every 2 miles or so. Very annoying. Since I can't get them tight enough around the ankles, they gap at the top allowing debris to get into my boot. Overall, I'm disappointed.

X Ultra 3 Mid Gtx Shoe

Wore them for the first time on an 8.5km hike through bush and creeks. They were awesome, so comfortable felt like I had been wearing them for years. Walk through the creek to check out there waterproofness and as expected no worries. Cleaned up nicely after all the mud.
