A Solid Trail Runner

Frequent rail runner here. This is my second pair. The lacing system is the absolute best. The sole and traction grip are fantastic too. It’s aggressive but not cumbersome nor too heavy. A nice balance between a tough yet agile shoe. I’m an Altra guy when running on street surfaces and like the zero drop and open toe box but in rocky and jagged terrain, these SpeedCross’ tight and snug fit provide excellent (and much needed) stability. The only knock I’d give it is maybe designing it with a slightly lower drop. Otherwise, it’s a well balanced shoe.

Love These Things

On my 3rd pair - will only ever buy these, although I may add a pair of mid tops to the mix for the more uneven trails I run.

Very Comfortable; Wish Laces Were Thicker

Shoes themselves are very comfortable, first time I ran with them though I pulled the laces to tight. I like my normal laces pretty tight. It seems with these though it creates pressure points and the top of my foot was sore for a few days afterwards. If they could make the laces wider and spread the pressure out or have two sets so you can customize the tightness across the shoe that would be perfect.

Speedcross 6 Gore-tex

This shoe is my go to for trail running and hiking. The Speedcross 6 grips rocks and provides a durable sole. The Gore-Tex version allows me to stream cross without hesitation.

Great For The Right Foot, Bad For Mine

Had to stop wearing as the toe box lacked enough height and rubbed the top of my nails. I tried going to a larger size shoe, wearing band-aids, silicone sleeves, etc. Still ended up losing several (4) of my nails to bruising. A shame as I loved almost everything about the shoe--great grip, nice water protection. Just destroyed my nails, oh, and it really trapped odor like no other shoe, but that goes along with waterproofing. Switched to a different brand with a taller toe box and the problems have gone away.
