Great Start, Poor Finish

These were the very best out of the box boots I’ve ever worn. Zero break in. My expectations were exceeded in fit, comfort, support, and grip. I live just off the remote end of GSMNP, and due to exceptional comfort, they were worn a lot. Unfortunately, at 3 months they began to squeak. This was caused by foreign material getting between the strap type third lacing eye and the boot…no problem. At around 6 months, they began to make a popping noise from the toe area so loud I stopped wearing them where noise would be an issue. I noticed the tabs for the rubber toe cap had had come loose from the sole and when put back in position, the boot was quiet. I glued back in position several times but it would not last. Soon after, the right outsole almost completely delaminated from the boot. Salomon, you had it. The best I’ve worn in thousands of trail miles. But this boot just doesn’t have it in the durability department. Now time for new boots and the Quest V appears to have the same sole. At the price point for these boots, I cannot roll the dice a second time. In fairness, I never contacted Salomon regarding the product.

Took A Bit To Break Them In But Good Quality Boot!

Take your time breaking them in before you go on a serious hike but when you do, they're great!

Exact Fit

They are the most comfortable dry hiking boots I've owned! They are super sturdy and so what they say they are.

Mostly A Good Boot

These are mostly a good boot after you get a pair that doesn't hurt your toes. The original pair had a crease in the right toe box area that pressed in on top of the toes. Replacement pair has been good with great ankle support and waterproofing. Cons are that on long hikes the back of my heel rubs and becomes a bit uncomfortable. Also, traction in snow is not as good as I would expect.

Helped This Heavy Old Guy Do Arches National

It is true that many 4D customers are hairy chested spec ops guys. I am 61 and at least 50 lbs overweight. Yet these boots helped me keep up with athletic 20 yr olds at Arches National. I even got some props from an experienced climber. The boot's traction, support and comfort are second to none.

Sturdy, Durable And Reliable.

Second pair. Very sturdy and great grip. Tight laces. Slightly different from my last model but no issues with water or quality. Takes long to break in.

Great Fit - Good All Around Boot

I'm a small guy with 7.5 size feet. This is a great boot. I do a lot of backpacking and around 50-60 days a year doing volunteer trail repair and maintenance in Utah for the USFS. Heavy abuse I know. The structure and fit of the boot is great. I don't need a special sock recipe to make them perform. Never had any blister issues from day one. They stayed waterproof. Only gripe is I wish the sole was more durable. I only got two seasons out of these. The speed laces are fantastic.

None Better

Best boot never!!! I have very difficult feet to fit a shoe.. I bought extra wide boots from many different manufacturers. Quest 4 is wide enough and feels like supportive and comforting!!!!!! These boots have already been to death of valley.. also these boots are completely waterproof!!!! Boots held up greatly!!!! could not be happier!!

Quest Replacing My Zamberlan Boots

I have many pairs of the shoes and decided to replace my Zamberlan boots with the Quest after my first 4 hikes. They have been great so far on my hikes @tacohiking on IG and @hikingtaco on TT. They fit better and the comfort is much better than my other boots. They are a little larger than the shoes so went down 1/2 a size for fit.

I Live In These Boots

I’m working on my 4th set of these boots and they are my daily year round wear. I get about three years out of a set and that will cover day hikes, backpacking with scouts, motorcycle riding, yard work, snow shoveling, etc. you name it, these are my go to boots. Comfortable to the point of forgetting I have them on and strong enough to handle anything my day throws at them.

Great Hiking Boots

I just bought my fifth pair which should say a lot about the boot. I buy a new pair every six months so that I have a "clean" pair, a hiking pair and a "work" pair. I wear the heals out long before the boot itself. I wish there more color choices and that they hadn't changed color of the "brown". Surprisingly they are fine for snow, being both waterproof and warm. Eventually Solomon will change or discontinue this boot, but until then, I will keep buying them.
