Smooth With Plenty Of Power

I bought the 4000 and went back to get the 5000 after I got it home and spooled up. Recently caught some nice red snapper on the 5000 and it worked flawlessly. I have many old Penn spinning reels and think these will last like they have.

Open Box

I received my order today and I was disappointed to see that the seal on the box was broken and the reel was removed from the protective packaging and lying in the box. While nothing appears to be damaged and the reel seems to be in proper working condition, I paid for a brand new sealed item, not an open box item. The other reel I ordered a long with it, came sealed in it's box.

Great Reel!

I currently own 7 of these reels. I fish saltwater for speckled trout and reds inshore. These reels are tough and handle all you can put them through.

Incredible Quality

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 14 years old son, who is in his fourth season on an Illinois Bassmaster Jr team. I'd say he's an experienced fisherman. Last season he really got into cat fishing, and asked for the PENN Battle III 6000. I have never fished with a reel this big and didn't know what to expect from PENN Fishing. All I can say is, WOW! The first thing that stands out is the metal construction, and sleek look and feel. His reel has the round handle and feels amazing when reeling in. It's currently lined with 30lbs of monofilament tied to 30lbs of braided line. The reel does have a rubber ring to prevent braided line from slipping but he still used mono to be safe. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase and feel this reel will be used for many many years. If I remember, I will provide an update after he uses it for a season.
