Poor After Sale Service

I own 3 peddle drive pelican catch kayaks. 2 of the 3 broke with limited usage. When I contacted Customer Service for a replacement cable, they informed me that I would need to buy the entire drive. The pivot wheel broke on 2 of the 3 I own.

Stable

Bought used catch 30 hydrive. Saw bad reviews on youtube. Was real careful not to take it in rocks or grass. But sprocket broke anyway open water. The pedal housing doesn't hold good so I am ordering another one. I tried to fix my pedal drive. Couldn't so I bought a hobie off of Facebook its been pretty good but don't fit perfectly. I love to get out and fish but it's been annoying constantly having to fix something.

Good Affordable Pedal Drive Kayak Vs The Big Names

I found a 130 HDII at West Marine in Everett WA. Because it was much more affordable than the Hobie or the Old Town, and based on reviews of the HDII, I bought it. What I like: Affordable The length, I wanted a craft big enough to crab and troll for salmon. Storage, I've added the optional hatches Stability, I can stand in it. Comfy seat. Lots of handles. What I don't like: The rudder could be better it's not as snappy as the foot rudder of my touring kayak. I have to adjust it frequently. What I'm indifferent to: The drive system could be better but it works and I could afford it. Pelican's warranty response is good and I'm glad I got this over another brand that might have been cheaper, but didn't have the history and support pelican has. I use my kayak in both salt and fresh water. It has performed well and been enjoyable. Never go out without your paddle or PFD. I enjoy the excersize and demand of human powered boating, so this works well for me. Also I don't have to register it or trailer it. Which is also, for me, a plus. Storing a trailer is not something I'm interested in. If you'd like to see a video review if the catch 130 HD2,search Picnic Point Kayak Fishing in YouTube.

Very Happy With This Peddle Fishing Kayak

My boyfriend and I bought two. We absolutely LOVE them! Can't say enough. Peddles work great, stearing mechanism works great. The seat is so very comfortable that we can hang out and fish for 4 hours and still be so comfortable in it.

My First Pedal Kayak

I was skeptical at first. The price point was well below other pedal kayaks. It fast and quite maneuverable for its size. I had an issue with the pedal drive but the customer service folks at Pelican were very responsive and went above and beyond my expectations in resolving the issue and they did it fast. Since then it's given me no trouble. Lakes, rivers, bays or ocean it takes it all in stride and is very stable. The seat is extremely comfortable and all the rails and pole holders turned my milk crate from a "carry all" to an anchor and cooler holder. Why 5 stars if I had some issues? It's a kayak. They are little boats made out of plastic and bits of metal, they all have issues. The huge upside is all the features that came standard made it so I was fishing instead of customizing it.
