Underside Is Not Great
Fits to size. As others said it’s a bit slippery on pedals. Both 5-10 and Specialized had much more grip. Hopefully it improves . . though I’ve ridden 100’s of miles on them

Loving It So Far
I like everything about it so far. I am still breaking it in. It is true to size and fits wide than most shoes in the same category. And the color is really nice.

Comfortable, Functional, Priced Well
Nice flats that don't disappoint. They're the right amount of stiffness & flexibility. Good pedal-feel/feedback and grippiness that you can walk around in too - and they're not heavy either.
Good quality shoe. No hesitation to recommend these.

Beware Of The Break-in Period.
The fit is near perfect, the break in period is a bit rough. The first ride I went on, I truly had to endure pain in both feet near my little toe! Second ride was a bit better. Hopefully no pain by the 3rd plus’s rides. Rubber soul hangs tight on my spiked pedals.

Solid Quick Slide In Shoe 8/10 Durable, 9/10 Comfort, And 7/10 Grip, 7/10 Price
I like the look and color of the blue and black. The quick ratch tightening feature is a fast-approaching standard. It's a comfortable shoe and the tongue stays in place well.
My one issue is the noticeable drop in grip from my lower cost 2FO DH Flat Mountain Bike Shoes. I'm adapting or the shoe is wearing into the pedal screws.

Solid Shoes But Not Perfect
I have owned 4 or 5 pair of these shoes now and would like to provide some context to things other reviewers have mentioned. 1st my two biggest complaints are 1. The tongues can migrate to the side which tends to be annoying. 2. The exterior of the shoe can tear from getting dragged or rubbed on rough surfaces like rocks on the trail edge. The durability issue seems to lie with the mesh like design of the material. It'll tear and look stupid but the shoes will work fine for much longer than the tear will take to become problematic. For the people complaining about the grip, I'm not sure what to say the soles are made of excellent and highly durable Goodyear rubber the same type used on climbing shoes. Probably my favorite this about these shoes is that when you're biking out west you can get off the bike and hike on slick rock and other smooth rock surfaces with fantastic traction and grip, I've never had an issue with my shoes not grabbing pedals. 16k miles on gravel and mountain bikes I have observed no significant "grip" issues, the soles are hard ultra durable rubber with a firm flat bottom with little give. They feel supportive and never "sag" over the edges of the pedals. The rubber also is highly durable and able to be repeatedly stabbed by mtb pedal pins. Typically around the 3000 mile mark the rubber tears exposing the hard sole and the result is occasionally the shoe gets hung up on the pedal and you realize it's time for a new pair. Lastly I've never had an issue with the boa failing, I would assume anyone who does have an issue can get the pair replaced under pearl Izumi warranty.

Step Above The Laced X Alp Flats
The bolo faster eliminated uneven lace pressure, makes mid-ride adjustments eaier, and no laces to tuck! The tounge is managed way better in this version also. Always had problems with the laced version tounge sliding to the outside which made the shoe loosen and allowd in dirt/debris. The sole is still great on pedals and hike-a-bike; unlike the 5. 10 sole that has no traction on the ground.

X Alp Shoes
Great fit and style. Not the best flat pedal shoe. The hard rubber compound does not grip well, I’ve switched back to my 510s. Also, the tongue slides to the left when riding and is a design flaw with the BOA system. Overall, do not recommend for flat pedal riding.

Great Shoes
Comfortable out of the box. First ride in these was fantastic. I rode 32 miles on them the first day and my feet weren’t sore. Excellent pedal grab and support. Bolas are easy to use and work well. My only complaint is the bola line looks to be nylon or plastic compared to the wire found on most other shoes in this price range. The nylon has a tendency to spool out of the bola when putting slack on them to get foot in and out of shoe but otherwise they appear and feel well made. The sole stiffness is nice but you you can still feel pedal. Great on climbs and full send descents. Overall would recommend

I Have Two Pair
I love this shoe that I bought for racquetball. They look and feel great. The only problem is that the laces loosen easily and the tongue won’t stay centered. Not a deal breaker, but I wonder why. I’ll try replacing the boa system.

Nice Bike Shoes I've Got To Get Used To!
Price....awesome, Fit........perfect, Color.......why I bought them, BOA......works amazing, Grip.......no complaints, Pedal feel........I can't! I purchased these to replace my vans I've worn the past couple seasons and the only issue (more of a gotta get used to thing) is having no pedal feel like I had with my vans. The thinner bottom let me feel where I was on the pedal at all times, where the Pearl Izumi has great support but that also means I can't tell where I'm at on my pedals. Almost as if my foot is numb. The shoe is super comfortable, plenty of width in the toe box and easy to walk in. I just need to get used to the change.

I Like The Color, It Match With My Mtb
I like this shoe color rather the black but there’s only one size available. I need size 42.
