PEARL iZUMi AmFIB Gel Bike Gloves

About This Item

This highly insulated glove is optimized for handlebar comfort and confident bicycle control, with enough sensitivity to hit every shift. We use 100g Primaloft Gold insulation w/Crosscore technology, which incorporates Aerogel particles for incredible warmth with minimal bulk. The main body fabric provides wind protection with easy articulation and an Ax Suede Laredo synthetic leather palm makes the glove as grippy as it is durable. The AmFIB-specific 3D shaped gel pad provides bar comfort without causing unnecessary bulk. Despite its generous insulation, it is still touch-screen compatible.

Great Value

Excellent warmth down to 35f and good to 25f with glove liner. Handles light rain shower, but will need rain shell for heavier rain.

Winter Rides

So I wanted to elongate the riding season and found these gloves on the Black Friday sale and they are superb addition to my winter kit. Hands satyed warm down into the lower 30’s so for what more could one wish.

Sizing Issues

Sizing is too small, I went up in sizing based on Pearl Izumi measuring instructions and the glove is a tight fit with fingers that are too short. Yes I have big hands and the XL is too small despite a 9. 2” palm measure and XL fit of 9. 5-10. 25 inches. I can’t comment on quality or padding as they are way too small and I am returning them

Good Fit And Warm

Gloves give a good snug fit. Shifting and braking are good. Very warm; good comfort down in the 30's. Downgrade 1 star for the touchscreen capability; it could be better.

Warm But Padding Isn’t Right

These gloves are very warm, but the padding in the palm is not where it needs to be. Padding is across the top of the palm rather than at the base of the palm where you need the most protection against pressure.

Great Quality And Fit

Look forward to riding with these this fall / winter

Great Looking Warm Glove

Great looking glove that provides a snug fit keeping out the cold. The gel padding is comfortable when riding on the hoods. While the gloves are smartphone/screen compatible it can be a challenge to access your phone especially with screen lock, which means you'll need to remove the glove to access your phone. Due to the thickness of the gloves dexterity may also be an issue as it's difficult just to tie shoe strings Depending on how cold it gets where you live you may consider the AmFIB light version.

Kent

Can’t say much more than they run really small. I always use L gloves but currently in the exchange process. Go one size larger than usual. As they ship by ground coast to coast three times, I’m guessing I’ll get to try them out next winter…

Excellent Choice!

These cycling gloves have evolved into multipurpose gloves due to their versatility. Great product.

Great Cool Weather Glove

I ride year-round in WI and this glove hits the outdoor temperature sweet spot often. For me, this glove is comfy down to the high 30's. A sunny day in the upper high 40's and this glove may be too hot.

Amfib Gloves

I live in NYC and rode on the 2 coldest days of the year…wind chill in the single digits…these gloves did NOT keep my hands warm. I almost got FROSTBITE on my thumbs-VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

Need To Return Gloves Because

Need to return gloves because they are not the right size. Would like to exchange for a new size. Hope you can help. Thanks.

Warm Gloves Too Small

The gloves seem to be of good quality. However, I think i got the incorrect size. I ordered XL and they were tight! The "leather" seam on the top side of the glove rubbed up against the knuckles on my hand and though it seemed okay for a while after a half hour it started to hurt. At the end of 90 minutes it was really bothersome. I think sizing up another size will take care of the problem and I will get these swapped out for the larger size. Otherwise they seem well thought out and assembled. I like the level of insulation, they are warm and wind proof. They have long cuffs which keep the wind and cold out.

Flawed, But Worthwhile

Gloves have great warmth. I've used them below 30F without my hands getting cold. They're pretty bulky, so you will lose some dexterity. Even with the bulk, the back gets tight when your hands are bent. It's not a huge issue on an mtb, but on a road bike where you have to stretch over the brake lever, the glove can feel restrictive. I don't know if you could realistically make gloves that go this low without making them kind of clumsy, but it seems like they could have added a bit more material on the back. The only real issue is that the insulated linings aren't joined to the liner in enough places, so the gloves are hard to get back into if your hands are sweaty at all because the insulation bunches up. All this being said, there really just aren't that many options for actual cold weather, and these gloves are still one of the better ones.
