Awesome beanie, does the job, loses some integrity after a few washes like most but otherwise its great

Purpose Built For Extreme Cold

This hat seemed to be of the highest quality and very well-made as are all products from OR. The only drawback is this hat cannot be worn, casually or partly for heat regulation. It will make a great helmet liner for extreme cold conditions. Unlike a typical beanie that you can either wear on top of your head with your ears exposed or pulled all the way down. It is purpose built for the cold and cannot be flipped up over ears. I will be happy to have it when work takes me back to colder climates.

Warm Hat!

This hat is very warm for how thin it is. Fits snug and keeps the wind out. I kinda feel like Michael Phelps when I’m wearing it but it’s a great piece of kit.

Great Backcountry Beanie

It's not too warm, not too cold, and it wicks water off my head well when sweating on the way up.

It was pretty decent, kept my ears warm under my ECH without getting too hot or interfering with the proper fit of the helmet. Also kept my ear plugs in place

Do Not Buy This Beanie

This is by far the worst fitting beanie I have purchassed in my life. My head isn't that large, but even with the L/XL size hat on, my forehead beggins to hurt after seconds of wear. The hat does'nt cover your full ears. The black elastic around the bottom of the hat always feels too tight, even after several rounds of pretty applied stretching. The top portion of the hat feels like a ziplock bag on your head.

Really great upgrade from a micro fleece beanie. Keeps the head much warmer. Fits well however it is a tad long.

Good

My 22” circumference is working well with the L/XL. It has a low profile presence with smoother fleece than many winter hats. I have not tried it yet in my area’s sub zero months, but I have hoods that can fit over it.

Decent Beanie, But Strange Fit

Like many other reviewers, I find the fit of this beanie to be off - it is cut too long. Without folding it or keeping it 'peaked' on the top, it will be almost over your eyes. It is also very tight around the ears and I have found it gets a bit uncomfortable after a few hours of wear. The fabric weight, however, is great and it is a nice beanie for heavy activity on cold days.

Sizing Didn't Work For Me

I have a large head. I won't buy a hat with one size since it will be inevitably too tight. I was actually happy to see other reviews saying it was too large. Unfortunately the brim is very tight on my head. The rest of the fabric fits well around my head, but oh well.

Fits Perfect

If you are a fellow pumpkin head the L/XL should fit you fine. I'm usually hesitant to buy non-sized L/XL headgear because they are usually too small. My head circumference is 23.5" so about a 7 1/2" hat. The beanie doesn't have any extra material at the top of my head like other reviewers complained about. Just a nice form fitting hat. Should be great for cold weather activities. I can't speak to it's performance yet so I'll take OR at their word.

Strange Fit

Like other reviewers, I think the fit is strange for a beanie. Ribbing makes it feel tight around the bottom of the hat, but there is way too much excess material on top of your head. Not form fitting, kinda like having a sack with a drawstring on top of my head. The design makes it so you really can't pull it all the way down and fold-up the excess around the bottom to get it out of your face--again due to the tight elastic-type ribbing material on the bottom.

Fits Your Entire Head

This fits your entire head unlike most beanies that don't cover up the base of you head with your ears as the same time. Not too heavy and lets your head breathe.

Weird Sizing Explained

I am on the borderline between sizes on this hat, measuring 23" around the forehead. and was confused by other reviews suggesting this hat was either too small or too baggy. I went with the smaller size and now I understand why. This hat seems true to size around the forehead, but has a bit of extra material around the top making it feel a little baggy even after I rounded down in size. If I try to pull the hat down far enough to fill it out on top, it starts to cover my eyes. I was looking for a tight fit across the top, so this hat is not for me. My advice would be to trust the sizing chart, and expect it to have a little extra room on top.
