I wore the Outdoor Research Astroman Air Sun Hoodie for a 12-day, 80-mile backpacking trek at Philmont, and it earned its place in my pack. We spent long days on the trail in strong sun, heat, and changing mountain conditions. The hoodie did an excellent job keeping the sun off my arms, neck, and head while still breathing well and wicking away sweat. Even after days of hiking with a loaded backpack, it stayed comfortable and held up extremely well. After nearly two weeks of hard use, I came away impressed with the combination of sun protection, breathability, and durability. For long backpacking trips where you are exposed to the sun for hours every day, the Astroman Air Sun Hoodie is exactly the kind of gear you want working quietly in the background.

This jacket was great while hiking in NC. It kept the sun off me and even some light showers. It dried quickly and was easy to wash.

My father in law is very particular about technical clothing gear so it is hard to find good gifts for him. This was a win. He likes the slight stretch, material, and good sun protection. Color is as pictured.

I generally dislike sunshirts most dont breathe well and I end choosing between sunburnt or overheated. This shirt was the first one I didnt seem to have that issue with. stretchy enough to trad climb in comfy enough to keep it on. I'd say this shirt works great for anyone that spends time in the sun. on the downside it wrinkles easily but I dont really wear it places where I care enough about that.

This wears incredibly well and is way more durable then i thought it was going to be. I would definitely buy this shirt again. I only wish it had thumb holes on the sleeve but not a deal breaker.

Extremely lightweight material and breathable. I worry this for a trail race and it offered great protection from the sun, while not suffocating my sweat. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a subdued, lightweight single layer for use in active settings.

Outdoor research stuff fits me well and generally is made to be tough and actually works well. This provides sun protection and goes over my helmet. Even when it's hot I wear this, yes I sweat a lot but I'm most always comfortable and never get burned which delays my recovery on top of the physical efforts of climbing.

What sold me on this hoodie is how soft the fabric feels on my skin, even when absolutely soaked in sweat. The Astroman hoodie is almost too nice to wear out in the garden but during this latest heat wave the Astroman is my preferred choice. In the summertime, I live in UV hoodies and own a lot of brands. They are all fine and do the job for sun protection but none match the OR Astroman hoodie when it comes to comfort. I’m glad I bought two!

The PREVIOUS VERSION with orange zipper, which I appreciate and thank you for, Team OR, -it has a generous HOOD that fits over a ball cap and overlaps nicely, providing sun protection much better than even from a hat, during low-in-the-sky sun. Material is nice, light and loose fitting; beautiful product that I came looking to buy again, only to realize that this NEW VERSION has a too small of a hood; cannot buy. (also long sleeves can protect hands, but that seems unchanged). Thank You.

This has been perfect for early morning hikes, bikes, and walks when a light layer is needed. It continues to work as the sun comes up and I need a sun blocking layer without added warmth. It's always in the pack.

I picked up the Outdoor Research Men's Astroman Air Sun Hoodie through ExpertVoice a few months ago and it's quickly become one of my go-to pieces for warm-weather outdoor activities. At 5'10" and 160 lbs with a slim build, I ordered a Medium and the fit is spot-on — not too tight, not baggy, with good mobility for everything I do in it.I've worn it hiking, walking the dogs, doing yard work, and even out at the shooting range. The fabric is impressively light and airy, super breathable, and genuinely comfortable even when the temperature climbs. It wicks sweat really well and dries incredibly fast — I've sweat through it multiple times and it doesn't stay wet or heavy for long. So far, no noticeable sweat stains either, which is a nice bonus. The hood is useful for extra sun coverage on my neck and head, and the overall construction feels durable without being stiff. One small thing I've noticed is that the fabric has a slight "swooshy" sound when moving, but it's not loud enough to be annoying. Other than that, it's performed great across all my uses.Highly recommend this hoodie if you're looking for solid UPF sun protection in a lightweight, packable package that actually breathes well in hot conditions. It's held up nicely so far and I expect it to see a lot more miles this summer.

I love the feel of this hoodie! the only thing is if you wear it in the summer and sweat through, the material absorbs the smell FOREVER! The only way to get rid of it is to wash it obviously. In my other sun hoodies, the smell kind of dissipated a little which was nice meaning could wear it for a while and in hot weather. This one, use once in hot weather or use strictly in cooler weather. I believe it's the material that controls it. Probably why it feels nice.

Bought this sun hoodie to use on warm and sunny days outdoors (running, golfing, hiking, etc). It is lightweight and I don't feel like I'm overheating while wearing it. Would recommend!

I love this piece. It’s terrifically light, great zippers, and versatile. Buy it!

Impressively durable. Pretty much live in this thing. Have climbed in it, taken it into high alpine, daily wear, it’s all around solid. And it looks especially good too. I love the 1/2 chest zip for dumping heat alongside the perforated side panels. And I really like the helmet compatible hood. I think the hoody is good for pretty much anybody in the outdoors. Although it can be a tiny bit scratchy if you aren’t used to having nylon on your skin, but this stiffness goes away after a few washes anyways.
