Overall Great Backpack - Comfortable,
Overall great backpack - comfortable, fills a ton, and has some neat features like the small pocket on the hip belt and the zippable back panel cover. Typical amazing Osprey quality.
There are, however, ways it can be made better.
1. The lid has a curve to it, allowing you to pack up an inch or two above the main cavity and still be able to close it. The issue with that is that it becomes hard to estimate how much space you have to pack. It would have been better to make the sides come up higher and have the lid be a flat piece without its own volume.
2. Only one side of the hip belt has a small pocket. It would have been nice to see one on both - maybe a mesh pocket on one side and a zipper pocket on the other.
3. The front water bottle holder area is pretty useless if the bag is packed out. Since it's not stretchy at all and competes with the main area for volume, if you pack the bag full, there's no way to fit a water bottle. Also, the design of having two openings for the same pocket means that two bottles will hit each other on the bottom. They should have just put a standard stretchy water bottle pocket on the side, and then had the front pocket be stretchy and openable via a clasp (instead of being stitched at the top), allowing it to be a stretchy dump pocket for any random item.
4. Since the bag is curved, it holds less than if it was more box shaped. They could have reduced the curve and allowed the bag to fit more, while still being within carry on limits.
If those four items were fixed, this would be a perfect bag.

Just Took My First Trip
Just took my first trip with the pack. It worked great as carry-on luggage.

Such A Great Pack! It
Such a great pack! It fits the airline dimensions for a carry-on bag, it’s quite spacious and works great a a pack to hike with (good hip belt and lots of adjustable straps). My husband and I had Osprey 60L packs that we lived out of for a year while we were traveling and loved. These are very similar but better for hiking (breathable back panel, and more pockets), and now fit the smaller airline size limits for carry-on.

I Didn't Think I Was
I didn't think I was able to pack enough. I thought the space was poorly designed, and there were absolutely very few pockets on the outside. Also, the zippers were insanely difficult to use because there is a huge overlapping piece of cloth that goes over the zipper tracks.

Easy To Use. Comfortable. Wish
Easy to use. Comfortable.
Wish there was more robust loops on arm straps for hanging a small backpack on the front instead of relying on the plastic buckles.

Like It
My old Osprey was getting very worn and tatty. I’ve used it everyday for over 2 years, for work and for going to the gym.
Y by Ed c Fairpoint 4” is larger than my last one, plenty storage space and different parts. Well worth the money, well made and durable.

Packs A Punch 0 Back Ache
Done my research on this little gem, had a bad back for years but strengthened it now with weights and special core and back exercises, so I wanted a back pack that took the load on the hips and it’s works incredibly well,
I use it for 7,10 days away and it copes well , get some packing cubes they help, I love the black look and the quick access to your laptop, as like anything you’ve not going to please everyone but I’m very happy!

I Was In The Military,
I was in the military, did 4 combat tours. I'm impressed with the weight distribution of the pack, how light it is. Everything looks feels solid. Time will tell but I think I’m going to be keeping this pack for the long haul. Great carry-on ability airports; civy style now. ( credits -- my Ai companion recommended this pack, thank you so much ;)

High Quality Pack, Built Solidly
High quality pack, built solidly in every way with design features that make it easy to carry by hand or as a back pack. Back pack straps can be stowed with a zippered cover to make it convenient to check the bag as luggage. Has internal tie down straps to secure packed items, a place for a lap top, and a zippered pouch to easily access smaller convenience items such as wallets, keys, passports, etc. Overall, a solid choice to use as a travel back pack.

Love My New Farpoint 40-
Love my new Farpoint 40- I have a Farpoint 55 about 8 years old that was my only bag for month plus adventures around the world. The new model is about 3 inches shorter which is crucial for flight carry-on restrictions. My old daypack snuggles nicely to the new pack. These packs are well engineered and very durable.

I Like It A Lot
I like it a lot for travel and it protects my computer. Fits a 5’10” muscular frame without issues. I like the big space where I can add the additional work computer and some clothes.
Needs: a space for a water bottle. Adding an aftermarket one to the shoulder strap.
Some pile fabric to the small mesh zippered compartment. This would allow for Velcro bags to be fitted to better organize my gear.
