I am an international expedition leader and I was a little reluctant to replace my trusty, 10-year-old Comet that had served me well for dozens of trips around the world. But, alas, the time had come, as it was no longer repairable. However, I couldn't be happier with this new model! All the same great organizational design with plenty of pockets and additional ventilation in the back. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I'll ever get to use it. My wife immediately took it on a two-week trip to Zambia right after it arrived. Well done, Osprey. I'm sure this pack and I will have many great adventures ahead.

I was thrilled to have my old, squirrel-chewed Celeste daypack replaced several years after I bought it! The Comet is well-designed, but I did prefer the way the Celeste was organized with more pockets, etc. Also, the only color that worked for me, given my other pieces was black, while my Celeste was an easy-to-spot seafoam green. This feels like looking a gift horse in the mouth, however. Very happy with Osprey!

I travel often and like backpacks. I'm a bit picky b/c I want the right amount of pockets without too much weight. This bag fits all of my needs. The tan/brown also looks great and gives a break from the black. If I were to pick one thing to change, it would be a lower front pocket. If I do not have my laptop in my bag, it tends to fall over easily due to being top heavy.

I spent 6 months ordering, trying, and returning backpacks for work and travel. As an educator, I use my backpack daily and need it to have all the right pockets in all the right places. This is my 4th Osprey bag so I don't know why I didn't start with Osprey from the beginning. This bag has all the high-quality features that I have come to love about Osprey. This bag fits under the airplane seat on multiple airlines. The outside water bottle pockets easily hold my 32 oz, water bottle with plenty of stretch left. I would purchase this bag again and again.

I loved my older Comet 28L backpack. I wore it out and sent it in for repairs. Sadly they could not make a functional repair, but they replaced it with the newer 30L. It performs equally well so far. There are some improvements too! For example, the zippers are sturdier, the top handle placement is excellent, and the minimal pockets and straps on the exterior of the pack makes it less likely to get snagged on things (great for a clumsy person like me). Love it so far. Osprey makes the best backpacks and stands by the AMG.

I got this as a Christmas present and love it. The colors are great. I love all the pockets, they are roomy and have just the right amount of smaller/organization pockets.

I purchased this backpack for school (12th grade) hoping it would be durable and functional. Not only is it both those things, but it has the added features that make my day to day so much easier, like top front zipper storage for easy access to snacks when I'm in the car and my bag's on the floor. It also fits so comfortably on my shoulders. Such a relief. And it looks so cool too! Everyone should purchase this backpack if they like good products that make life better.
Nice backpack with a separate laptop compartment, but I have to return it as it is too large for anyone under 6ft and as a personal item for flights. Could be better if it is ~25L.

Given how bougie, over-designed, and overpriced travel packs have become, I didn't hold out a ton of hope for finding something to replace my 25+ year old workhorse Jansport Equinox until I found the Comet. This is an ideal weekend bag or dual purpose light hiker and travel bag with 30L divided into three intelligently designed compartments. I bought it as a "jack of all trades" for a trip into the Canadian back country. It served both as my airplane carry-on bag and as a basic go/hiking bag for adventures in the area surrounding my cabin. Held everything I needed it to with excellent organization, while easily fitting under the seat. Materials feel durable and high quality with lots of smart design touches like zipper flaps, contrasting linings, a quick access pouch at the top, water bottle holders that can manage a 32oz Nalgene (praise!) and multiple sleeves in the laptop compartment (great for carrying electronics and travel documents without it all being bunched together). Exterior design is understated without a ton of unnecessary loops and straps that can get caught on things. Even when loaded, pack felt secure and balanced on the shoulders and I was able to wear it through two airports without any discomfort. Hiking backpack-like mesh/venting on the back panel kept my back dry. Sternum strap is welcome is good for stability and security. Waist strap is just a thin nylon band which feels unnecessary. Thankfully, it was simple to remove. My only complaint is that the zipper for the main compartment only goes about half way down the pack. This is typical for most backpacks, but makes it harder than it needs to be to pack or unpack items into the lower half of the bag, especially when the admin compartment is full. A full or 3/4 clam-shell design would be welcome. Also, the admin compartment has decent organization with elasticated sleeves and a zippered pouch, but the top of the sleeves sit too high relative to the pouch opening which can make it difficult to pull the zipper open or shut past any items that stick up, like pens or other tall items. But these are mild nits. If you're looking for a quality *backpack* that maintains the intelligent and practical design touches common to hiking gear while avoiding the design and pricing excesses of modern travel packs, this is a great choice. I expect this pack will be with me for as many adventures as my beloved Jansport was.

This is a perfect backpack for any occasion. It can fit so many things that it’s great for backpacking and a great size for a carry on for transatlantic flights!
