Product Care

We recommend treating your Oru Kayak as you would a fiberglass, wood, or skin-on-frame kayak. Here are some guidelines:
  • Avoid unnecessary dragging or bumping - use the carry handles to lift, instead of tugging it behind you
  • Store out of direct sunlight - our boats have a 10-year UV treatment, but we still recommend sheltered storage
  • Rinse the kayak thoroughly with fresh water after each use - sediment and salt that dry to the surface of the boat can be abrasive over time

I Haven’t Been Able To

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I haven’t been able to get the new Skeg Kit but as soon as I do I’ll let you know. I had to buy the foot rest because it’s so uncomfortable to use it without. I need the skeg to keep from turning around in even slight wind as soon as I stop paddling. I’m just going to wait until the skeg is available. I wish both skeg and footrest had been in the box. They’re necessary pieces.

Lake Kayak

I haven’t been able to use it yet as it is now October but I did set it all up in my house and am excited to get it into the local lakes maybe in November if the weather cooperates!

Durability

Don't waste your money!! I bought my kyack in June , used it a handful of times and now I have 2 pin holes at the corners where it folds up. I am very careful when I unfolded /folded it. It is not durable and certainly does not last as stated. It has been over 30 days and now I have a kayak held together by glue and duck tape:(

Makes Adventure Possible Every Day!

This kayack is amazing! Its given me the ability to kayack whenever i want! What is lacks in comfort it makes up for its light weight and ability to go anywhere with slow or still water. I use it to survey lake, pond and swamp shores for plants and its very convient.

New Oru Kayak

In your material you write from box to kayak in 3 minutes; that was not true for me. I needed help creasing. At 82 I have lost much upper body strength. You might consider putting an * indicating for those who will struggle with the creases not to give up. Once in the water, my only observation is getting a seat cushion to elevate my 5 foot body for easier paddling. Otherwise, it was a sweet ride.

Good Potential

I purchased but return ed it without fully setting up. I am a small woman and did not have the strength to complete the folds needed. Disappointed as I thought that it would fit my needs.the store clerk said it is a little stiff in the beginning but if I could not do it initially there was no point in keeping

Fun Little Kayak

I have the Beach and recently got the Lake for my wife. The Beach is better but the lake is still fun if your not trying to get anywhere fast, the bow turns a bit each time you row (while the Beach move straight and smooth). The Lake is so easy to carry, so lite and handy!

A Strap Broke But Other Than That

I've taken my kayak out for two trips so far and I love it. Portable, packs up easy, it's great but after the second trip, the strap to carry it ( like the suitcase strap one) broke. Half of it broke off the screw and washed it attached in the kayak. Other than that like the rest of the boat is intact. I guess I could fix it but that'd be only complaint.

I’ve kayaked twice and so far I’m happy! I can kayak now with my SUV any time I want to. I’m a senior and I can handle the weight of this kayak. I was on the river here for 5 hours!
