Put To The Test

Had mine just over a year now. Easy to handle loading and unloading. Very nimble in the water. You’ll want kayak paddles. A canoe paddle will wear you out. Feel like it’s a little expensive but having enjoyed it now…I would buy it again!

Perfection

This is the solo boat I have been looking for and wanting for 20 plus years. I’m a fisherman, duck hunter and older adventurer. I can load it in the bed of my truck and go without it being a project, couple straps we are gone. Perfect hybrid, well thought out. I was lucky enough to find a couple left overs in camo as we are waterfowl hunters and orange and blue don’t cut it. Would be 5 stars except that: 1- the track bar on the forward thwart is plastic and questionable in terms of durability, just use aluminum. There are aftermarket direct fits, but shouldn’t have to dish out on a premium boat. 2- know you’re entire audience, sportsman as the name says, need and want camo, not sure why old town isolated themselves from hunters.

My New Love

My solo 119 is great . Sure glad I went with it . Everyday it just keeps getting better .

How To Make This Better

I want to see them make this hold 600 pounds because I love this build but my moken kayak holds more weight. I’d love to see this become a solo canoe that can be a true hybrid and work as both multi person transport but a single paddler in this low down middle seat

Two Thumbs Up!

After using my HEAVY barge of a fishing kayak for the last few years, this is a joy to transport and cart to the water, I found the seat a little uncomfortable, but that might just be me, and will be solved with a pad or something. I fly fish and like to keep it simple. Overall I loved it!

Good Boat, Not Great. A Little Short.

This would be the perfect boat if it were just a couple feet longer. It looks very spacious, but as soon as you sit in it, it feels pretty small. I could really use that extra 2 feet of cargo space & Old Town doesn't have a canoe that fits in that notch. My only other complaint is that the seat is absolutely terrible. For the price I expected MUCH better. I've been paddling 30+ years, but most of my miles have been in a similar sized Dagger kayak. Comparatively the kayak feels like a sports car & this feels like a pickup truck, which is apt since the hole I bought it to fill was longer multi-day excursions. However, that brings us back to that little bit of extra cargo space that this is missing & a really sore butt. It's right in the middle of 2 tasks & it doesn't do either exceptionally.

Great Handling, Very Dry Ride, Comfortable.

I bought one and only did 3 short outings. Handles really nice, can turn on a dime. Paddled straight into 15 mph winds tracked good. Going with the wind it wants to turn on its own when not paddling but all short boats do. Over all I give a 8 out of ten. I now have 3 fishing kayaks to get rid of cause I will use the 11.9 solo. Thank you Old Town for making the perfect camping, tripping, fishing rig.

Great For Fly Fishing

I love mine. At 67 years old I can handle mine in any water. I fly fish in lake rivers and salt marshes this thing goes everywhere! I added the Yak anchor pully to the from and rear to control my position in the wind A small 5lb anchor works great. I have fished the small mountain lakes in Wyoming to the salt marshes in Ga. A fishing machine.

Nice Upgrade From 10' Pelican

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Upgraded from a Pelican 10' angler kayak which is great but i wanted to carry some extra gear that would not fit, so this is the next step and im enjoying the stability this brings. I went fishing in it today and it is easy to carry. I did get a truck bed extender to use with this new model as i have a shortbed truck and worked well. I was out in windy weather {15mph} and it tracked like a dream. it paddles very well and can create some speed. You do have to watch the winds and not have a wave come crashing into the interior which means all items must be protected in a bin or bag. Love this kayak, will keep it for hour long events.

Love It!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This discovery 119 sportsman is awesome! Small enough to run small rivers like a kayak, but just big enough to bring the dog, decoys and kit for hunting. Happy with its versatility.

Comfortable, Fast And Smooth

This hybrid is very comfortable and glides smoothly through calm waters. Very light weight for the size, i can load this on top of my lifted Jeep wrangler with ease. Love the interior storage space and the arm rests.

Canoe For Me And My Puppy

It is perfect for what I was looking for. Using it to explore local waterways.

3 Seasons And Still Amazing

Have has been my solo for 3 years now it has been everywhere from big lakes to divert rapids. It sets nicely on the top of my jeep all summer long and gets used every weekend. Perfect for fishing of just paddling out.

Go For It!

Got the Solo 119 to cruise local waterways, I use the canoe mainly for fishing and hunting, and with an added trolling motor on a homemade mount, the Solo 119 is effortless to navigate

Solid Stable Hybrid Canoe For Fishing

Took it out two times in a month and I like the sturdiness and the simplicity of this vessel. It's designed for fishing and a lot of people use a kayak paddle. I can't get used to a double blade so I use it with single blade and it's doing great. Very stable and can hold a lot of gear. I wouldn't want to do tripping in it but for day trip fishing it's awesome.
