Good Deal On A Nice Gift

Bought this a month ago for a family gift exchange. Young cousin was hyped to get a bait caster, since we come from a spinning reel family. Taught him how to set the tension and braking and how to cast, and it seems like a good reel to get him into the reel type.

Budget Reel

Caught this reel on clearance, for the price it was a no brainer. I spooled it up and made a few casts in the backyard. Seems pretty decent.

Nice Beginning Bait Casting Reel

I’ve been wanting to try a bait casting reel and when this one went on sale for $30 I decided to pull the trigger. So far it is working well. Once I dialed it in it has been casting well. I am pleased with this purchase.

Didn't Last

Save yourself the headache and time. Do not buy. It backlashes, birdnests, trigger will disengage mid cast and stop your throw. Wanted to like it, but it's impossible.

Won’t Last More Then One Trip

Purchased 2 weeks ago and is already crunchy and skipping when reeling in. Haven’t even caught a fish with it. I’d save your money and go with a kast king off Amazon for the price.

Recently purchased this reel works great especially for the price.

Cheap!

Purchased reel because it was on sale. Paired with new line and seemed tension know has to be very tight, backlash on most casts with any distance. Can feel the gears grinding after less then 10 casts and retrieves. Was stoked to try but too disappointed to overlook the $40 price tag. Will be returning to the store.

Where To Even Begin

For the price, it's ok. Looks good and feels good. Operates smoothly enough. That's all the good there is though. The magnetic brakes are weak. The printing on the magnetic brakes are out of place. The tension barely functions- all the way tight and the lure is still free falling. The tolerances are horrible. There too much space where the spool seats into the body. If you have a backlash you line will find it's way into the palm side plate and around the spool shaft. To get the side plate off you have to fight it- the paint sticks and doesn't like to release. If you're not throwing 1/2oz or heavier you'll backlash every cast.

Solid Reel At A Great Price

Matched this with an Ocuma 7’ medium/fast 15# braid . Good combo. Casts great. Handled several 4# largemouth with ease. I have 3 of these now and see no reason to waste money on more expensive reels. Highly recommend this
