Nikwax Tech Wash: My Go-to Cleaner For Technical Gear

Nikwax Tech Wash has become my standard cleaner for all of my technical outerwear. At the end of each season, I use it to wash my softshell and hardshell jackets, pants, and other waterproof gear to help maintain their performance without damaging the fabric or DWR treatment. I’ve also relied on it to maintain my Army cold-weather gear while living and training in Alaska. Between snow, mud, sweat, and long field exercises, my equipment sees a lot of abuse, and Tech Wash has consistently kept it clean while preserving the performance of the materials. One of the biggest advantages is that Nikwax offers it in larger containers. My Tent Is Still Going After 8+ Years Of Use

I use this after every backpacking trip! my bigAg tent looks as good as new after lots of thrashing, storms, & thru-hikes. I also use this on my backpacking pack (over 15 years old now!) and on my dry sacks. It's great for anyone wanting to care for their gear.

Cleans Well, Not Great.

I have noticed that the tech wash does a good job of removing grime and stains; however, it fails to remove odors. I think the delicate washing cycles and mild manner of this soap only wash the clothes superficially. I noticed that bonfire smoke and smoke from grilling don't go away with this product. I highly recommend that anyone air out their gear in the sun before and after washing with this product to ensure that any smells dissipate.

Great For Water Resistance

detergents can be harsh on water resistand and breathable fabrics. this will treat them right. absolutely recommend.

It's the right detergent for GoreTex materials. It's rejuvenated most of my outerwear for more than 15 years. I've been surprised repeatedly with the changes after washing my Event and GoreTex garments with this, and following up with the spray treatment. Great product, will order again.

Best Way To Wash Outdoor Clothes

From my softshell pants to my hiking t shirts to my shell jackets before I re-waterproof them, the Tech Wash by Nikwax is the best. Takes away any odors, can be used in small amounts undiluted to treat stains, and cleans out the pores of my shell gear making it ready to be re-waterproofed, the Tech Wash does it all. If you go outside as often as I do, it just makes sense to buy the big bottle and always have it on hand after an adventure. Super easy to use at home or at a Laundromat if traveling, with instructions on the bottle for both front-loading and top-loading machines!

This With Dawn Got Out A Oil Stain, Loving This Stuff

I just bought RAB jacket and was doing some things out side, and must have gotten oil on it from somewhere. I rubbed in some dawn, and use the Tech Wash and it got it out. This stuff does not smell the best, but it does the trick.

Great Product!

Ive used this on my patagonia nanopuff and on a sleeping bag, great for both. However, if you dont have a washing machine that can do an extra rinse you might be left with some residual residue at the end, but it rubs off with usage and then looks perfect and works great!

Like to use instead of regular detergent, doesn't require a large amount per wash so lasta a while

Reliable Cleaner For Gore Tex

I use this annually on all my waterproof outdoor wear to keep it performing (and smelling) appropriately.

Soft And Hard Shell Jackets

I have used this on both soft and hard shell jackets, both with and without waterproofing (gore tex, mostly) and it really does a nice job of cleaning the jacket without being too harsh or leaving any residue. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to prolong the life of their outerwear. Not sure about the environmental impact, but it would be nice if there was a biodegradable option.
