This is one of my favorite fleece jackets. Great lightweight layer, warm but not hot. Pockets have zips to keep items safely inside. I have been buying these for years, and hope they keep making them. A staple in my closet.

Basic fleece, nothing special. Its comfortable and warm. Sleeves are a little long yet have no hole for thumb, that feels like a miss. Would keep but looking for lighter weight jacket. Its 300g for a Large nowhere near 167g.

I would agree with other reviewers that I preferred the cut/fit of an earlier iteration of this jacket. In this new version, there is less shoulder, armpit, and bust room, but more hip room. Since I am busty but do not have much in the way of hips, this means the jacket is tight in the upper body but I have a little "skirt" at the bottom which looks silly. I do like the longer sleeves. The body is bit too long for me, even though I have a long torso. That said, the jacket is very warm and super soft and I wore it every day for a week straight as my indoor warm layer with a softshell for outside. It definitely needs more room in the armpits - it is cut very close cut. For comparison, I am 5'8", 165 lbs, and a 34I (so often have an issue with jackets, I blame this on my grandmothers passing down the bust genes). If you tend toward larger hips and smaller bust, this would be a nice fit for you. So Mountain Hardware, how about making a line of basic essentials in which you have different models for differently shaped women? You would make women very happy! I am happy to volunteer as a tester/model to help this effort.

I live in layers and so this looked like an item I would like to add to my arsenal. Nice soft material. I found the arm length and width were fine. I also found the pocket size fine. I know other reviews from people who owned the predecessor did not like the pocket size change made by MHW. I am 5’7” 120 lbs and built rather straight – I bought the small. I can say that someone else might like the fit but I did not. The length was good – mid hip on me. The cut however looked boxy on me and I would prefer a slimmer and more fitted cut. I think if I went with a smaller size then arms and length may not have worked. Bottom line is if you want something not fitted then this may work for you. For me, I will send it back.

I have several of the original Microchill jackets and love them. The 2.0 has new features that I do not like. The zipper pulls are tiny (basically short thin strings with tiny rubber ends that you can hardly get a hold of) . The openings of the zippered pockets are very small. I have average sized hands and I have to wiggle to get my hands in the pockets and good luck if you want to put anything slightly bulky in them. The cuffs are longer and thicker, making them bulkier when layering. The Scarlet Red is actually more of a coral color.

I can't believe the changes to this jacket. I'm so disappointed. The old microchill was so comfortable and flattering for a fleece. I'm not sure what Mountain Hardware was thinking - maybe to copy the horrible fitting Patagonia fleeces? This is now longer and narrower in the body, so on me (short waist), the zipper buckles funny, and it now cups under the belly in an unflattering way. Also, I'm not sure what's up with the sleeves. They are now super long (extended cuffs) and feel tighter. This makes the jacket warmer, and you can't push the sleeves up. Also, the new zipper pulls are small and feel icky. I imagine when it gets to be glove weather one will have to remove a glove to work them. Please, please, please go back to the old cut and style, or at least offer it in addition to this 2.0 jacket. This jacket would probably be good for someone with a long torso who plans to wear it for cold enough weather where temperature regulation isn't an issue. The quality appears to still be there. I'm 5'7", 31 inch inseam, short waisted, broad shoulders, 135lbs.
