The outer shell material is extremely light and fragile so it's a piece you can use only under some other clothing or have to be extremely careful with it as the outer shell is very gentle

Absolutely killer jacket. Bought it to use for teaching a backpacking class in the late fall in high mountains of Idaho where it can get pretty cold pretty quick. Used it in -10f weather with a baselayer underneath and shell on top and stayed toasty the whole time. Provides an honestly impressive amount of wind resistance even on the seams. A lot of people claim durability issues but I've used it climbing, backpacking, and bikepacking for about two years now and it's done amazingly. Well done Mountain Hardwear!

Great light puffy that is super effective! However, I do see tiny little down feathers leaking out after a weeks worth of use. Its negligible, but I do see it. Hopefully, it doesn't get any worse. No rough activities performed that might cause this.

Good looking jacket. Extremley lighwwight. Wore it and now all my friends want one! If you take care of it, it will provide you years of excellent use!

A great addition to my backpacking layering system. Ridiculously lightweight for the degree of warmth that it provides, either as a mid-layer on winter hikes, or added warmth during rest stops/around camp. Delighted with the purchase!
Awesome jacket would buy again. Excellent quality and it was everything advertised it would be.

I've been doing section hikes of the AT over the last couple years and bought the Ghost Whisper 2 because it was so highly recommended. A month ago I decided to upgrade to the UL to save an ounce or so and gain some packability. I wore it a few times around the house and then noticed down feathers spilling out. I don't know how, but I had a 1" tear on the front in the middle of a baffle. Used some Tenacious tape to repair it and its holding. I wore it on a section hike last week with no issues, but I think the fabric is just too fragile, even for just around town or camp use. I wouldn't buy it again and would instead get another Ghost Whisperer 2. Its not worth the extra cost or reduced durability.

We have been dealing with frigid temperatures, freezing rain, and snow this year. The cold doesn't get through this jacket - it's incredible. It's great because you can scrunch it up and throw it in a bag. I highly recommend!

Where have you been all my life ghost whisperer? I’ve worn it down to well below freezing and it’s still kept my warm. It’s super light and comfortable too. Very impressed.

I recently purchased my second jacket. Had the same one before and loved it. Owned for 5+ years. Only flaw is durability. One snag/tear and you will find yourself looking for the nearest roll of tape to save those darn ultra light feathers.

I have both the GWUL and the GW/2 and both jackets, after 20-30 wears, start to experience "down migration.' The jackets need vertical stitching to create boxes/checks to prevent this for the future iterations. If not, it's just an expensive jacket for wealthy suburban mom's and dad's to putter around doing errands in.

Highly recommend it - used in Michigan cold weather and on the mountains to high altitude climbs on seven summits - Elbrus and then Aconcagua to the highest camps

I bought this earlier this month and I have been wearing it around town and it is super warm and does a good job at blocking some wind as well. I didn't have a chance yet to try it on any hikes but noticed some stitching coming off on the hood. Otherwise it is a nice warm and toasty jacket.

I’ve had mine for 6 years and there are definitely durability issues. I got mine in black and it looks really great. I get compliments on it a the time. I put black duct tape on the tears over the years and no one notices. Gonna buy a new one this year.
