One of the reasons I chose these shorts was it stated in the website description that it had “ soft lining inside the waistband for comfort” I have had two pairs of Mountain hardware shorts for approximately 15 years and they were awesome, they both had a chamois type material around the waistband on the inside and over the crotch area. This feature was excellent in hot weather when rolling commando. These shorts have no “soft lining” on the inside as stated, it is the same material as the outside. Additionally, the picture on the website depicts the drawstring on the outside where it is on the inside of these shorts. I guess if you don’t mind a knot or bow pressing against your abdomen, you would love these. And lastly, as one other reviewer noted, the size 34 is closer to a 33. It is very challenging to find a quality hiking shorts these days. Everything is from Chinese manufactures with thin material, poor cut, etc.. I came to Mountain hardware to find a quality product and I am very disappointed that it didn’t work out. I will say the fabric material was very nice and sewing quality looked good. I called Customer Service, but of course it is a outsourced call-center in another country with no option to get me to a real mountain hardware employee. It’s a shame what happens to these companies like Mountain Hardware, O’Neills and others. They initially specialize to people in their sport, but then sell out to becoming a mass market cheap clothing product line.
