Broken

Purchased my power drive on July 3rd, i installed it just fine but quickly realized that some parts were broken and looked bent. Super frustrating to not have a workable unit.

Bought This For "Spot Lock" What A Joke

Bought my 24 volt Powerdrive over a year ago. 100% bought this for the spot lock feature. I crappie fish 98% of the time so staying in one spot over brush piles is what I need. I live and fish in Oklahoma and as we all know it's where the wind comes sweeping down the plains. That being said 15 MPH winds are an average day. I use my live sonar to get directly on top of where I want to be (while moving VERY slowly). Hit the spot lock button and 30 seconds later I'm 30' feet from where I hit the spot lock button. I've emailed Minn Kota and inquired about adding the "GPS puck" to improve the accuracy. Was informed that just adds the jog feature. I've tried adjusting every setting that's available to improve the spot lock with no luck. I'm very displeased with this product and doubt highly that I will every buy this brand again. By the way it's NOISY as all get out. It does have decent speed control for trolling and if you hit the "N" button on the remote for course lock it will generally take you in that direction. But do not buy this motor if you want to spot lock as advertised. It's doesn't perform like I was lead to believe.

Not For Bass Boats

This motor runs great but without a handle to to release the motor for stowing and deploying, it's a pain in the butt. This design might be good for walleye boats but it's worthless on bass rigs. Wasted purchase.

Garbage

new out of the box does not work. would give it zero rating but there is not one.

Poor Feature, Foot Pedal

This motor came with my new boat ,added on to the boat,motor ,trailor package. I have over 40 years using the old foot controls [heel and toe]. The first time out ,I could never keep the boat on the correct path,or find a good place the put my foot on the drive switch and steer the boat. My fishing partner of 40 years could not use it either. Constantly over steering,under steering.Spent more time looking at the motor to see which direction we where going than fishing. Cannot make small adjustment to steering when fishing.

Easy To Use

We purchased our first mini pontoon and had no experience with trolling motors. We took the recommended motor and they installed. It was tried for the first time this evening and the Copilot is very easy to use. Very pleased!

Solid Unit

I just started using my new boat with a new powerdrive with i pilot, It is the second powerdrive trolling motor. My first one had the old auto pilot with foot control. It made boat control in the shallows and coves of a large reservoir a snap. This one is an upgrade with i pilot with spot lock which helps keep the motor in one space. Some knowledge of boat control is still necessary as the trolling motor will keep it self in one spot, but the boat will swing around it if the boat is properly positioned to wind and current. Love the hand held remote and need to figure out what a good flotation device to keep it from loss if accidentally dropped over board. It would have received 5 stars if the motor wasn't so loud. It makes the most noise when changing direction. This is a longstanding problem with these.

Steering Is Out

Used very little in 3 years and now it won't steer. Power to the prop is fine but nothing on steering. No noise or gears grinding. Just nothing. Not under warranty. Battery is fine and unit looks brand new but nothing more than a paper weight now.

Bad Design

I bought this motor about 3 months ago with the ipilot option. For fishing where you are covering a lot if water fast you have to stop what you are doing to adjust the trolling motor with the remote. This is irritating but after awhile itbis not hard to adjust. The biggest issue that I have had with the motor is is the stowed position. In big waves the motor will deploy. Attached are the pictures of what happened the second time it fell. The design is not that good for big water fishing.

Magic!

We bought this motor to be able to troll on Tobin Lake Saskatchewan to fish for pickeral. This is a big and windy lake, and we have an 18 foot, high gunwale fishing boat. We bow mounted the motor and were easily able to troll: for 1mph to 1.2 mph, in still air, we needed only 30% power. The stow and deploy actions were easy, and the retainer clamp really is solid. We added the optional support strut to stabilize the motor when stowed and making way in heavy water. The i-pilot is truly a marvel. While we did not take the time to figure out the record tracks feature, the cruise control will maintain a set speed, and is very easy to setup. The track hold feature was superb: once we got it aimed in the desired direction, the motor would steer itself to maintain the set track. Fish on: no sweat, press the stop motor button and get it in. As soon as the fish was netted, we simply pressed the start button, and the motor smoothly took us back up to trolling speed and on track. We tried the "anchor" function and were also impressed: the motor reverses to stop the boat motion, then runs as required to avoid drifting from the spot. All in all: the manual seems scary, but this is actually really easy to setup and use, and was absolutely MAGIC for us.

12 Years, Flawless

I bought this motor for my 16 ft bay boat, used it in the saltwater for first 3 years with no corrosion issues! Since then almost exclusively in fresh water and not one times has it let me down!! Last week I came in to my dock a little too fast and broke the propeller, that is the very first part I have had to buy for it. I cant remember the last thing I owned worked as flawless as this motor...

Great Motor

Have had this motor for over a year and it’s never failed me. Good power for my smaller boat, easy install, good pedal and the quick release bracket is helpful for storage and offseason. Will run this until I upgrade boats and then it’s time for an ultrex or terrova with Ipilot.
