Complete Disappointment

My friend and I just bought these in case of an emergency where the phones and internet might go down and we need to stay in contact with one another. He lives only 2.6 miles away and we were unable to reach one another. This product claims that their walkie talkies can reach up to a 20 mile radius. What a load of garbage. Complete false advertising! Maybe if your 2 children want to play in the backyard or around the house, these would be perfect, but not reliable at all if your looking to use them during an emergency like a hurricane or big snow storm and all other methods of communication are out.

i got this today to annoy my boyfriend with it and we’re only about 3.5 miles apart but it completely doesn’t work we’ve tried every channel and absolutely nothing. would really want to know if maybe it’s just us or this thing is broke .

Good For Close Range

Bought these for my son. Around the house, they work great. States they work up to 20 miles, but need to be on flat ground without obstructions. The best distance we got was around 1,000 ft.

More Like 1 Mile Range

When these walkie talkies function they are fine. However they're supposed to work for 20 mi and I could barely get them to work for one. I double checked all the settings and the batteries are new. I bought them for their purported transfer and they are at 5% of the claimed total. BOO thumbs down these suck.

Bought six sets for our Audubon group to use on car field trips -- to report sightings to each other. One field trip included some little kids and they had a great time using the walkie-talkies "copy that." That gave me the idea to buy some as holiday gifts.

I bought these so that I could do chores outside while my wife was recovering from hip surgery, worked great.

Not Impressed

Bought these 8 months ago and have not had a chance to use them. Finally got to go on vacation this year. I gave the other car that was following us down to Florida the other two-way radio. On way down the radios had horrible reception when we got about a hundred yards away from each other. Even when we got down towards Southern Alabama and Florida where it was all flat ground through radio still struggled to keep reception. I could see the other vehicle near me probably 75 80 yards back and they could not pick up on any of my radio traffic.
