These boots present as a great middle ground between your classic hiking boots and true barefoot ones. They are insanely comfortable the moment you put them on, no break-in period needed. You can safely wear thinner socks or ankle socks without pull tabs, as the cushion on the Achilles area is enough to prevent chafing. These boots have some amount of arch support, more than what you'd find in regular true barefoot shoes. I find that to be very helpful as I'm recovering from a mild bunion giving way to a collapsing left arch, and it gives just enough juice to prevent my arch from tiring out but still giving it room to perform and continuously strengthen. Zero drop and a good amount of ground feel without the surprise gravel giving your feet a non-consensual deep tissue massage. However, merrill's barefoot lineups have always been on the narrower side with their footbeds in general, so for people like me with narrow/regular feet but still expect spacy forefoot and toe areas these fit way better than, say, Altra, which has way too much room in the arch and heel area and causes heel slippage far too often, which results in blisters, unreliable balancing going downhill, and occasionally slipping and falling. Do keep in mind though if you find the forefoot area being a tad bit too small--I did after a few hours initially prancing around the house and went for a grocery trip, USE A DIFFERENT LACING PATTERN! You can search online for different lacing techniques(Asics has a great article on that), and I found by straight lacing the first two pairs of eyelets and an extra loop around ankle has 1. stopped the squeeze on the balls of my feet 2. still kept the arch and heel area locked down 3. prevented any gravely bits from sneaking into the boots. But do keep in mind these are not for those with wide feet. No amount of alternative lacing will change the fact that the outsoles are simply smaller than your feet's spread.

Shoe was a disappointment - very stiff exterior material - the back top of the shoe is too high and not proportionally built especially for small size (6). Wore it for approx. 3 hours during outing in Alaska - had to change shoes due to major discomfort (ankle), stiffness of shoe and toe pain. Not happy.

I'm so glad I bought these. I haven't tested the waterproof aspect in heavy rain yet. These boots kept trail debris out and allowed my feet to move naturally. Lots of room for my toes, too. I love them so much I bought 2 pairs of the low version in different colours!

I have the wrapt sneakers and did quite a bit of hiking, loved them! I have a high arch and they fit great. Felt secure climbing up and down rocks, I wear them all the time at home.

Great fit for flat feet. I replaced the insole with a hiking insole. Toe box is wide. Shoe is breathable with great grip on alternate terrains. The only downside is the heel area has low to no cushioning. I blistered up fairly quick on a 20 min hill. Cleaning the lighter options was difficult became two toned once it got sprinkled on. It decent shoe overall.

I have the shoe version of these that I like so I bought the mid hiking version. Well, the tongue on these is so narrow that you can barely form a seal around the ankle as the edges of the tongue barely meet the boot , let alone stay under the sides with ankle movement. This leaves an opening for dirt, rain or snow to get in. It also causes chafing/rubbing where the tongue should be providing cushioning. These are supposed to replace my old pair from another brand that aren't zero drop and the tongue on my old pair is a full 1-1.5 cm wider. That's all it would take to fix this problem.

These feel quite solid & sturdy, but a bit stiff & in need of some breaking in (unlike the low cut version of this which I also have & like very much). I don't yet know how well they hold up in rain in terms of their being waterproof.

Another Fantastic Merrell Product . Absolutely Comfortable like wearing a comfy house shoe. Merrell you keep making them and I'll Keep Wearing Them 👌👍 I Haven't had a Merrell Boot Or Shoe on my feet that I haven't Absolutely Loved yet , and to date I have 32 pairs and Very Satisfied with Each And Every Pair .
