Giving The Trail Gloves A Second Chance - A Win!

I had tried the first or second Trail Gloves and then they seemed to lose their way and I did not like their successors and went back to traditional shoes from another brand. I decided to give them another try as I've started strength training recently and was asked to find shoes with a flat platform and a wide toe box. Overwhelmed by other choices in the zero drop category I returned to something familiar and after reading reviews decided to give these a try. Very happy to do so! They are a nice in-between choice for barefoot vs. traditional shoes. They cinch up tight through the midsection of the foot so feel secure and "supportive" on my high arches. Yet they feel grounded through the grippy soles and with room for my toes to wiggle. I'm happy with the straight black color option so I can wear them to the gym, to walk on rough roads, and to work. Glad this was a good return to Merrells!

These were the first barefoot/minimalist shoes I got. I wasn't sure if I'd like them... I love them! They are COMFORTABLE for walks, shopping, etc. My feet do not get sore in them. They're becoming the only shoes I want to wear. (The laces are really long, so I just double tie them.)

My Favorite Shoe

I bought these shoes initially for training outdoors. It’s been about 5 or 6 years now and I still wear them. Since then, I’ve bought two more pairs. They’ve become my favorite shoe. I normally wear 6.5 wide. I got these in 6.5 regular. They are a little bit narrow for my feet, but they do stretch out a little over a good amount of time.

If Only…

Love the yellow! Also love the ease of walking my 2-mile a day goal. However, although I have worn size 9 forever, these shoes are about 1/4 inch too short! The only way to keep the comfort of these shoes is to wear very thin socks.

Worst Quality Ever

I've been a longstanding Merrell customer and had 4 trial gloves so far and these are the absolute worst. First, the sizing was off. They were smaller and somehow wider and hence much less comfortable than previous ones. But the absolute worst thing about them is the quality. The sole wore off within a couple of months and the fabric and threads started ripping within half a year of use or so. Older models lasted years. In fact, I still have a pair that I bought in 2018. It looks used and discolored but I can still wear it. To me, it's completely absurd. All this focus on sustainability and recycled fabric and then you create a product that lands in the bin after a little more than half a year. To me that's just green washing and dishonest business practice. Deeply disappointed and will look for another brand.
