Mid-teens Kiana Replacement Success!
When my beloved Kiana's soles came unglued after a decade of use including the coldest and snowiest winters on record, I dug out the specs and went hunting for an equivalent pair. As it has been a very snowy winter I have had time to break them in and am quite happy. They are everything the Kiana's were, plus an easy in/out zipper and considerably lighter while remaining stable and toasty warm. Excellent traction and work well with my snowshoes, too. My only regret is that I didn't size up half a size as they are a smidge more snug than the Kianas were and I would prefer to use chunkier socks, but that isn't a deal breaker.

It Keeps You Dry, But...
I find them extremely difficult to put on. The inner zipper is very heavy duty, but almost too much so. I have arthritic hands even though I'm fairly young (44) and I am unable to wear them if my husband isn't home to help with the zipper. They add almost 2 inches of height as well, some people might like that but I'm not a fan. Also in the picture they look durable but also cute, in person they are ok, but very utilitarian looking. Won't buy Merrell online again, because the pictures are not true enough to real life. I'm keeping them because they are very good for non slip and walking in the snow that we've been having this frosty Canadian winter.

I love these winter boots. I have worn them for multiple hours at a time and they were warm and comfortable. I find that Merrill’s run a little narrow, so keep that in mind if your foot is wide. Also, these run small and I had to get a full-size larger than my usual size 6.
