Very Cool Looking! Very Uncomfortable!

Recently bought these. I love the look and style! But they are the most uncomfortable shoes in my fleet of 45 pairs of shoes. I didn't expect them to be uber supportive or cushy but I feel like I'm walking barefoot on hardwood floor. I was going to buy the black pair after I received these if this pair was decent, but nope, not now.

Ouch

Was super excited about getting these because I love Merrell and I love the style and color of the 45th Anniversary shoes. But I've never had a pair of shoes shred the back of my ankles as fast as these shoes, not even a couple of miles and I had bloody socks. The stiffness and shape of the back (the collar?) are like chisels into the back of my ankle whenever I take a step. Really love the style though, so I guess I'm living in blister pads until I can tame these.
