Great Approach Shoe

I love the TX4. I find it to be a near perfect blend of weight, stiffness, stickiness, and durability. From rock scrambles to long approaches with a full climbing kit, they have yet to let me down or leave my feet sore. They are comfortable right out of the box, yet offer great protection on rocky approaches. I've had multiple pairs of both the original and the Evo, and i find the Evo to be a major upgrade in comfort, shape, and style. My current pair have been going strong for 1 year, with many long, dusty Colorado approaches, with lots of life remaining. Very trail-dust and water resistant. Once the laces are loosened they are easy to slip on and off to mill about the crag. Great shoe, buy it.

Great Shoe, But What Happened To Bamboo/tropic Blu

I was really bummed when bamboo/tropic blue was discontinued, and even more bummed when it was replaced with the yellow and purple. Honestly, I think it’s ugly, and it’s a big step down from the blue. It’s a shame, because the shoe itself is great, and the colorway is the only reason I’m not giving it a higher rating. Please bring back bamboo/tropic blue, or give us something new that isn’t purple.

Extremely Low Volume And Narrow.

New sizing is WILD. I have had 3 pairs of TX4s. All 42.5. Ordered 43 as I head the new version is smaller/narrow. The difference is crazy. So narrow that there isn't enough lace the use the last eyelet and still do them up, with a gap between the tongue/side where I can see my sock. The top of the toe box is so low that I lose circulation wearing them around the house. Sizing up more would give too much front/back slop to use relaibly on technical terrain especially slab downclimbs. Unless your feet are very low volume and narrow, don't bother. Huge bummer, these shoes were awesome. Picture attached showing them bulging with the last eye taken out to get enough lace, wearing regulation smartwool hiking socks.

Good Shoe But Original Tx4 Was Better

Original TX4 was great, I wore them for years and they held up well. Toe box was wide enough, construction was good. TX4 EVO has some changes that make them way worse. The main one is that the arch is so high it hurts. It feels like a custom orthodic that they give people with really flat feet, I can feel my arch squishing into it on every step and I have high/healthy arches. Also the sizing is a bit off, I wore 13s before, but with the EVO I needed a 14 (but am returning it sadly). It's also stiffer in the sole than the original (I think! My old ones to compare to are pretty worn out). Either way it's too stiff for me. Otherwise fantastic shoe with high quality construction.

Durable, Sticky And Comfortable Wide Toe Box Shoe

Comfortable, sticky, durable wide toe box approach shoe. Excellent for big wall climbing, long approaches with heavy packs and easy scrambles. The colors are pretty cool too.

Worst Redesign Ever

What a joke! They took the best approach shoe and one of the greatest shoes of all time and ruined it. Half a decade without a blister or any issues, now I can't even break a pair in. Good think I bought a few pairs on sale... now who do I offload this junk to? Bring back the old style and shape! Please!!

Scramble And Climb With Precision In A Durable Sho

I really don't know how folks can compare this shoe to previous models, and rate it poorly. This shoe climbs super well, scrambles, and has great durability. Just use it on trails, and don't use it as a daily driver on concrete. I used to be wary of the outsole, compared to the old dot rubber styles of days past, but the diamond shaped lugs are actually better. Climbing is hard on shoes, and not a lot of companies are making shoes where a capable climber can take the sharp end with these in a the right scenario. The shoes' capabilities are best in class. Boo on all the reviews for people who don't actually want any product to ever change... this model can even be resoled for extended use!

The Best

This is the most comfortable sneakers out if my 25 pairs of sneakers . I got this in dark pink now I am getting the yellow color . I am a nurse so I am on my ft walking back and forth and by far this is the shoes feels good 12-16 hrs shifts.

Better Than Old Tx4

Way better for me than the old Tx4. The old Tx4 was too soft to confidently edge so I ended up getting the Tx Guide Leather instead which just didn't fit my round toe box and led to uncomfortable hiking on the way down. The Tx4 evo climbs nearly as well as the guide leather in my opinion but fits my foot way better. I do think the sizing is different than the old tx4, I am at least a half size up from the old tx4 and wearing the same size as I do in the Mutants. It might be a little narrower than the old tx4 but the excess width of the old tx4 contributed to it not climbing as well. I think the excess bad reviews are mostly people who fit the old Tx4 and don't like the fit of the new one and most of the issues could probably be solved by going a half size up. For my own sake I hope the bad reviews don't encourage La Sportiva to go back to the old Tx4 because I've finally found an approach shoe that climbs great and is comfortable all day.

Order A Size Up And You're $

These shoes are rad! After some reviews about sizing, went to the store in Boulder, and ended up getting one EU size bigger than my normal (size 42 instead of a 41). My foot is medium in all attributes... Fit is great, rubber is amazing for climbing and scrambling. Just used them on a 4-week trip climbing and skiing in Bolivia, and had no issues with blisters, etc., even at 6,000m w/ 30kg backpacks on. Big big fan.

Too Tight Now!

I hate the new tight fit of the black shoes! My favorite shoe was the older grey version of the TX4 for hiking and scrambling. The wider toe box was much better. It is a different shoe now and much too tight.

Bring Back The Old Version

Bring back the old model please! The EVOs are narrower, stiffer, and much less capable to climb in.

Still The Best. Just Buy A Half Size Up!

Still the best. News flash.. these fit about a half size smaller than the non-EVO previous version. Buy the correct size and you're golden. These fit like a dream, durability & grip are the same or better than the original version, with (at least for me) the added benefit of a bit more stiffness (and resulting support) in the midsole.

They Killed A Legend

What have you done to this shoe!? The best, most perfect approach shoe ever and now it’s gone… I don’t even have wide feet and this is narrow.

Downgrade

Please bring back the old tx3 ad tx4. these are so much more narrow and uncomfortable.
