Great Filter

This thing works exactly as it should. If you're near a water source, this is super handy to have. It's lightweight, packable, easy to use, and filters the water so it's safe to drink. Three of us hiked into the backcountry for a fly-fishing trip, and this filtration bladder was big enough for all of us. It has a pretty fast flow rate, so it didn't take long at all for us to fill our water bottles.

My Go To For Base Camp Trips

I have spent many weeks in the backcountry filtering all of my water and this is by far the most efficient way I have found. I can set it up and take care of other camp chores while this thing does its job, just keep an eye on it to change out you containers before they overflow. It is heavier than I prefer to carry when I am moving fast or covering a lot of ground on backpacking trips but works great when I am based out of one area for a while or car camping. When the filter slows, it is typically because there is a lot of debris and a quick swish in clean water tends to get it going well again, no need to worry about bringing a syringe to backflush. Overall, this product is easy to use and makes my camping trips just a littler easier so I can take more time to enjoy being out in nature.

I used the this filter on a multi-day backpacking trip with a group of three, and it performed flawlessly. Collecting water from alpine lakes was quick and effortless — just fill the bag, hang it up, and gravity does the work. The filtration was fast and effective, providing clean, great-tasting water with no strange aftertaste at all. The 6-liter capacity made a huge difference for group use. The bag lasted the entire trip without any leaks or issues, and it was incredibly convenient not having to constantly trek down to the lake for refills. We could fill up once and have enough water for cooking, cleaning, and refilling bottles for everyone.

My Go To Filtering Solution

This water filter is amazing. Once you get the couple tricks on it (hydro locking, filling), it filters quick, fast and reliably. Hydro locking: sometimes you'll get air bubbles that will slow the filtering. one trick we've learned is to presoak the filter element, because it doesn't filter well the first round otherwise. Also, having a small pot or bag to fill and then dump into the filter can help, but the best is filling it in a flowing stream.

Reliable And Fast For Group Backcountry Trips

I recently used the Katadyn Gravity BeFree 6L Microfilter on a backcountry camping trip with 10 people, and it exceeded expectations. We were camped right on the lake in 80-degree weather, going through a lot of water, and this system was a champ. I kept it hung on a tree and refilled it using a couple of 1L Nalgenes to keep the filter clean, which worked perfectly. The flow rate was fast, making it easy to keep everyone hydrated without turning water collection into a chore. Compared to the smaller filters I normally use for solo or small group trips, this was a game changer for larger groups lightweight, easy to use, and highly reliable.

Worked great, maybe an included stand would be useful. Used to collect water from a lake, hung on tree for camp members to fill up and use for food prep.

So Light! So Easy!

I just got back from a 4 day back country mountain summit. I used this filter because I knew I had some big water carries and didn’t want to hand pump them. This was my first time using this filter and I loved it. Fast flow, easy to fill. Just perfect.

Great For Base Campsite Cooking Station.

It has been a good product. We have used it at camp while taking day hikes from our campsite. No issues, and I have used Katadyn filters for 30 years. They are worth the money. Ingesting a parasite could be a lifetime health issue and ruin a trip. Water is too heavy to carry.
