Just A Bit Too Small For Use For Hiking

This water bottle/filtration system works great and the water tastes amazing. The only downfall is that for longer hikes and trips one needs a larger water bottle. The 16 oz is not enough and a 1 liter or (32 oz) would have served me better. I hike a lot and do multiple day through hikes. Sometimes there is quite a distance between water sources, thus the need for more water storage in your filtration bottle.

I like the filtration system but worry about the longevity and durability of the bottle. It’s still strong after three trips. Three seasons may be a push. It’s super easy to use though. If it fails, I’d purchase another one.

Water Purifier Bottle

I am a fan of Katadyn Water Purifier Product. I bought 4 of the Bottles as gifts for my family members. We use them primarily for back country hunting in Wyoming so clean safe water is possible using Katadyn. The filter seem reliable, easy to clean, dry, and start use again after a trip. I have used the Katadyn 6 liter Be Free Gravity Filter for static camp, and the Katadyn Be Free 1 liter bag bottle is always in my pack empty but available for use when needed. My thoughts are the bottle being a little harder plastic would be more durable for use similar to a bike water bottle style but with the filter built in. New this Unit has a Carbon Filter. I find Katadyn Filters to be excellent, and I would recommend for back packers as they are lightweight & don't easily clog for me.

Good Option

Haven’t filtered water yet so 5 stars are based off looks and feel. The bottle is made of then squeezable plastic. I think this was the intention to get a better flow rate if using it to fill other bottles or bladders quickly and for ease of drinking from the bottle. This may lower puncture resistance but also lowers weight and bulk. The bottle is very light.

This bottle filter worked great! I used it on a self support kayak trip on the Middle Fork Salmon and was able to scoop river water and drink it immediately. The river water was very clear and clean so I didn't have any problems with the filter clogging. Your results might vary if used on a less pristine river. But I'd highly recommend this filter

Perfect Size And Weight

These were a great buy!. They're perfect for my hikes and commuting.

Travel Companion

I bought this primarily as a travel bottle. This way I can get water in airports & hotels without worrying if it is filtered or not. The bottle is very soft & squishy. I do wonder how long it will hold up since you do have to squeeze it to get the water out. The carbon filter is a nice touch & seemed to take some of the taste out of the water I was drinking. It doesn't seem to reduce the flow too much, slightly noticeable.

The solid version stays in packs a little better than the soft version.
