Disappointed

I bought the Xtreme 3 to pair with my Charge 5 out by my pool. I thought the larger size and increased wattage of the Xtreme 3 would really boost my sound quality and volume. I was disappointed when I realized the Xtreme 3 was barely audible when the 2 speakers were paired together. The Charge 5 alone projects better, and although the Xtreme did have a slightly better sound quality, I could not justify the expense of the Xtreme 3 for the lack of contribution it made. After reading all the small print in the manual to see if my Xtreme 3 was defective I discovered the speaker wattage was smaller in the Xtreme 3 than the Charge 5 and not all of the speakers were operable under battery power in the Xtreme. I'm guessing that is why was underwhelmed by its performance.

Surprisingly Good Portable Sound

Having grown up with radio-cassette players, Walkmen, and portable CD players in various kinds of plastic, I'm now greatly enjoying the best portable audio I've ever heard, courtesy of a Fiio DAP, a decent 3rd party EQ app, and the fab Xtreme 3. I get really very nice sound indeed when using my Chord headphone amp via line in. I have a quibble regarding JBL software though because it is incompatible with both the above-mentioned DAP and my Android phone. I understand I am not alone in this and it bothers me (and should bother JBL) because I wanted to buy two Xtreme 3s and use each as a single stereo channel but cannot because I need a working JBL app to achieve this. One speaker system is still very good though and will have to suffice perhaps until I get a DAP or phone upgrade that will co-operate with a JBL app. So, in short...Xtreme3 very impressive, software rather disappointing. I'd still gladly recommemd it to anyone who is fussy about audio quality, but why not audition first if you're unsure?

Good Speaker

This is a good speaker, I may like my charge 5 sound better but it definitely tries to bring more bass.

It Did Work

Had for around 2 years isn't that loud but the size kind of excused it and battery only last a few hours in reality unless you have music whispering. Fairly sturdy build handles ya bumps and knocks without to much of a problem however as of now it won't hold charge and has to be on life support (plugged in) to work. All round decent speaker but yea if it doesn't work can't get much higher stars.

Jbl Extreme 3 Poor Sound

I’ve had this for two weeks and very disappointed, I upgraded from my JBL charge 5 to a extrem 3 and the sound is very poor for its size, the extreme 3 is double the size, so how can the charge 5 sound better! Very poor indeed !
