Great Size And Clarity For The Price

I got this to go with my new Minnkota Terrova trolling motor. I installed the transducer on the port side of the stern on a Chaparral Sonesta 232. The base unit was installed on a ball gimbal mount to the right of the instrument cluster of which I highly recommend for total flexibility in viewing angle. My first usage was on the 4th of July weekend up at the lake. There are so many views and additional goodies on this that I didn't have time to read everything before going. As it was, the basic fish finder graph was awesome with good color and definition. The speed and temp is a nice addition. Unfortunately, I didn't have the extra cable to the motor for all the advanced things the motor can do. The unit did come with adapter cables though. It is somewhat redundant if you have the motor that already has mega down and side scanning built in. Overall, this is a nice unit for a sale price of $599 I would give it 5 stars if you could utilize both the transducer from the unit and the motor. As of now, I have to unplug the unit transducer to allow the cable from the motor transducer to be utilized for it's benefits.

    Excellent Fish Finder

The Helix 7 with GPS, Mega down imaging, and Mega side imaging has been a phenomenal addition to my kayak fishing. I no longer feel like I am fishing blindly in the winter when the fish go deep. The "Mega" provides extremely detailed views of submerged structure, bottom composition, vegetation, and identify fish well beyond what I imagined possible with this unit. The included Humminbird Basemaps have helped me navigate some of the larger lakes, and the autochart live feature has enabled me to create my own maps of the smaller local lakes I fish. Installation was pretty straightforward. The Helix 7 user interface is friendly. There are numerous videos on YouTube to help you install the Helix 7, navigate the menus and I interpret the maps.

    Works Well!

Had this a few weeks used for the first time last weekend. User friendly system have not used the charts and navigation yet but will soon very satisfied with this unit.

    Good Price

I bought this to put on my old town AP136 and it has worked well. There was a learning curve, but I have figured it out enough to use it. I am still learning. Love it so far. Would recommend it to anyone.

Initial Problems With My New Helix 7 G4

So I decided to upgrade my fish finder to a GPS model Helix 7 G4. First problem encountered was that whenever I turned my motor off then back on, my helix 7 crashed and had to have a hard reboot in order to restart. In other words I had to pull disconnect the power to the unit. And then it would restart once I plugged it back in. Wazzup widat? I can't be doing that 15 times per trip! Still trying to figure it out. It's probably a simple fix but until it's fixed I cannot recommend this product. My other depthfinder didn't do this at all. It is protected by a 3 amp fuse. What I saw when it was working looked good. But this failure and need to reboot is nuts. I need to use this in the ocean occasionally so when I'm coming across the bar or navigating in the ocean I cannot have a GPS failure.

    Sweet Unit

This Helix Chirp Mega SI GPS G4 was the perfect choice for me. The size is perfect for my boat and the screen is awesome. All the features will get figured out as it gets used more. The install was pretty easy with help from a friend.

    Mega Live Compatibility!

Why does it say on your website that the helix 7 g4n is mega live compatible but it's not? Might want to change that for future purchasers! It must be helix 8 on up with mega+.

Helix 7 Chris Mega Si Gps G4

Can’t wait to get on the boat and figure it out and catch some walleye.
