Just Want To Go Fishing

I bought a new pontoon boat I asked them to install an easy to use depth/fish finder. This Helix 5 is what they put on, first day on the water 25 foot of water riding at about 25 mph I hit a tree and looked over the edge of the boat to see I am in a forest that did not come up on the finder? Nice dent! I have no idea why I am not sure how to set this thing up the web page will not let me set up an account and trying to learn how to use this thing is like I need to go to computer school, is nothing easy

Great Product

This is the 3rd Helix 5" that I have purchased. One of the first two was a KVD edition. Caught lots of fish with those two and I'm looking forward to getting this new one on the water. Thank you Hummingbird for a dependable product for every fishing person.

Really Enjoying It

Briefly tried other fish finders, but they all failed or were disappointing. However Helix 5 is a keeper, it finds and displays ALL fish and even my lure. Very pleased with its chart plotting capabilities, the flexibility of the software, and the quality of the device as well. I wish it included charts for my country, Turkiye, however!

Ice Ducer ?

New Transducer/addition Of Di Loses Pic >15mph

With my old Humminbird transducer, I never lost my underwater view not matter how fast I was running. I have the helix 5 chirp DI with new style transducer (at least for me) and I regret purchasing the unit. The unit is of no use to me if it’s going to lose the underwater view just because I’m running over 15 mph.

Best Unit At This Price Point

I purchased this unit for my pontoon boat. I wired it in myself, as I did for all of my instrumentation. Very easy only an idiot would have issues wiring it in properly. There were no problems with the unit when removed from the packaging. I would suspect any issues like that could be easily exchanged had I encountered an issue. I would give this 5-Stars if there was a dash mount option as I had space for it in my dash. I fabricated brackets myself and it looks and works great. What I found appealing about this feature is the SD card I can purchase with all the lakes I use this boat in. The color screen is bright and easy to read in bright sunlight, as you would expect. My goal for the unit is to understand bottom contours and shallow depths and an insurance to preventing lower unit or prop damage. I have set up my gauges to include Depth, Speed, Time, Sunrise/Sunset & Water Temperature. The main screen has my make plotter displayed. It has provided my with accurate and fast data while underway. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a great entry level unit that has many features of much more expensive units.

Good Product

I purchased this model for my new Lund this past spring. The price is good, product is easy to use, easy to navigate through the different features. I plan on purchasing a second one to mount on my bow for my Minn Kota Terrova.
