Tread Fell Off After Only 5 Days Of Hiking
I purchased my Challenger 8s directly from HOKA. I'm posting this here because prospective Challenger 8 buyers should be aware of the durability problem I experienced.
After only five days of hiking, three pieces of tread completely separated from one shoe and additional pieces started peeling off. I've owned about five pairs of HOKAs, and my family has purchased more than 10 pairs over the years without problems like this.
Unfortunately, my experience doesn't appear isolated. Other Challenger 8 owners have reported similar tread/outsole separation on REI, Fleet Feet, Reddit, Facebook and Instagram ("HokaGate"), in some cases after only a few hikes or well under 100 miles.
I opened a warranty claim directly with HOKA on July 7, immediately supplied the requested photos, supplied them again when asked, and after more than seven weeks and repeated follow-ups I still don't have a resolution.
I used to regularly recommend HOKA. After seeing a $155 trail shoe come apart this quickly—and experiencing this level of warranty support—I can no longer recommend the Challenger 8 and am seriously reconsidering HOKA altogether.

The Store's Refusal To Honor Their Own Return Policy
After a month of use, the sole started coming unglued in several places. The store refuses to accept a return.
Wildly incompetent staff and a complete scam. Be very careful buying anything here! The store is refusing to honor its own return policy and won't accept defective items, even though they are well within the warranty period. Absolute lack of professionalism and basic consumer protection.

Great Support And Stability For Light Hiking Ahoes
I was looking for a hiking shoe that wasn’t bulky and heavy. These Hokas are lightweight and have nice stability for not too rocky trails. Not a big fan of the color but it was the only one available in a wide width.

Very Comfortable
I had debating buying a pair of Hokas for some time and am very happy I did. Great for walking or just hanging out. Will buy another pair.

Very Comfortable
Bought for my husband. He has typically worn brooks trail running shoes, but he liked the look of these. He has been very happy with them thus far. They look great and are very comfortable. The only downside is the tread has worn down fairly quickly.

Bad Online Experience
I order a pair online…never got an email confirmation. So I called and they forced the email, got it and 2 hours later my order was cancelled? So I reordered and let’s see what happens.

Worst Customer Experience In A Long Time.
Buyer beware, don't buy these shoes online as Dicks can't figure out how to send the right size. I ordered a pair of regular width, received a wide (which isn't even an option on the website). I returned these to the store as no exchange option was possible. I ordered another pair that same day using the online customer support service. I received another pair of wides. Not sure what's going on but I won't be shopping at Dicks again. Terrible experience.

Hoka- Amazing Sneakers!
Once again I purchased a pair of Hoka’s for my husband. These were a little different with a little gold added to the shoes. They are comfortable as usual. We wouldn’t buy any other brand!
