The Best Satellite Communicator!

The Inreach Mini is the gold standard for Backcountry communication. I've used it extensive in Alaska including north of the Arctic circle and all over the lower 48 and have always had reliable connectivity. The app integration makes navigation easy and it's very helpful to be able to send free form messages from your phone or precanned messages directly from the Inreach It has great battery life and is fully submersible

Not Good

Returned Mini. Old technology, slow, lacks easy customizability, and a pain to set up. Will get something easier to use.

I bought this second one after the first one would not charge. This one does not charge now cannot be relied upon for sos retuned it to Garmin for exchange but they lost it now

Good Enough To Buy, Just That Cost !

So far, if you do NOT need to use the 🆘 function, that is a good thing! I like having the security of piece of mind. Activation fee and monthly fee is a bit too much. It make more sense for a pay per use instead of monthly fees….

Don’t Leave Home Without It!

I never, ever leave home for a hike without it. Even in short local trails. A couple times on the Appalachian Trail I got sick or moderately injured, and I was able to contact a shuttle driver to pick me up even in an area with no cell signal.

Never Again

While sailing my on a multi-day cruise of the US mid Atlantic coast my Inreach Mini just froze up. This left me with no local weather information and jeopardized the safety of my boat and myself. To be fair it has worked very well in the past. However, this recent experience forces me to look for alternatives.

Shiity Connection

i tried for 4 days to get it to connect and subscribe and be able to receive sos signal and couldn't connect. I had a friend try and it took him 4 hours using my adroid phone. He has a garimin inreach he bought a few years ago it took him 20 minutes to subscribe. It is the worst use of bluetooth and websights i've sever seen

Mixed Feelings

I bought this a month ago to use while riding adventure motorcycles and dual sport motorcycles off grid. I thought I had my contacts entered correctly to share my location but turns out I did not. I find the interface very antiquated and the subscription fees a bit expensive for what it does. Not sure that I’m going to keep it since my iPhone has satellite capability already.

It's ok .. not easy to use and to many websites to navigate

Peace Of Mind

I ride motorcycle in a lot of places with no cell service. I bought it mostly for the SOS feature. Hopefully I will never have to use ti but it is peace of mind for myself and my wife when I am out on the bike.

Almost useless as a communication device - unable to get it to connect to satellites consistently, and Bluetooth connection with phone is spotty. Sent a message to my wife and she got it 3 days later. Keeping it for the SOS feature, but will get rid of it after the AT

Inreach Mini Gen 1

I have had this for 5 years and it’s been good. It still works. Although I would say it is getting a lot long in the tooth in 2026. I would recommend purchasing the newest model you can afford. And if that is the mini2, don’t. Save up for a mini3.

Not Pleased

Bought the fist one. Wouldn’t hold a charge for more then two days , sent it back and the second one is the same way kind of useless on a hunting trip

Late Messages

Most messages are Arriving hours later or even the next day. Not impressed yet.

I bought it used from a guy so instructions were la kong. I used it in Montana and it was just ok. I need to update it I think
