Apple Watch To Garmin Fēnix 8 Solar

Switched from Apple Watch after 8 years and all I can say is wow. There is a complete night and day difference. Yeah the Garmin watch is a bit more complicated to figure out compared to the Apple Watch, but to me the customization is better and the capabilities are just not comparable. The main selling point for me was the battery life, I first wore my Garmin at 9/18 and as of this review it is 10/1 and I’ve only charged it once. Compared to my Apple Watch Series 7 that dies in less the 24 hours while just using it to tell time. With the Garmin I’m also doing activities with the watch checking the weather a loads more than the Apple Watch. Plus the flashlight feature is something that seems tacky or weird, until you use it and it becomes one of your favorite features. The only thing holding me back from giving the Garmin Fēnix 8 watch a 5 star is that it’s not as easy to figure out how everything works unless you already have a watch like it or someone with you who has one. Other than that if you’re thinking of switching to a Garmin, just do it, your experience will be so much better than you think.

Best Fenix So Far

Great so far. Big enough bump coming from Fenix 7 47mm solar. Has enough features plus it should get the rowing metrics in a few months...finally. The increase in thickness and solar ring on the 9 pro was too much of a turn off. I'm hoping the 10 will include some better solar mip innovation. But for now this will do great. Plus I love the MIP. I hate doing wrist flip for amoled.

Love Training Readiness

I love my Garmin fenix. Satisfying to see solar charging. Actually does not hold a charge longer than my Forerunner 255 which is really disappointing. I like the training readiness a lot. Heavy on wrist, fyi. Max tighten to run.

Fantastic Choice

After trying out a bunch of Garmins watches, finally settled on this one. Its definitely a HARD choice as there are so many great choices. The fact that it was released on my birthday was just an added deciding factor. Once you go Garmin.. there's no other option.. Just fantastic choices.

Best Watch Ever

Greatest watch in the history of mankind. It does everything. The only thing I'm hoping for is a version that completely runs on solar.

The Buttons Are Awesome

Traded up because the buttons on my 7 were getting stuck and not working. These buttons don't have any mechanical parts so this is no longer an issue. The 8 so far has been wonderful. I only have to charge it once every 12-15 days as long and I'm getting out and surfing enough. Would love to do a Youtube Review on it.

Take The Chance

So far I’ve stopped wearing my Apple Watch. This watch has been a lifesaver. Absolutely love only charging about once per month. I’m able to track my sleep now. Love every function of this watch. Was in a situation I needed some light and remembered I had it on my Fenix. Love it.

Love It So Far!

Love it, still trying to figure out the battery use as it seems to drain about 10% a day even with making pulse ox manual and disabling sounds.

Great Multi-sport Hiking Watch With A Few Caveats

So far I am happy with the solar fenix 8 which I purchased for multisport and hiking activities as well as for use when I'm doing work in shallow water. It replaced a fenix 7. The watch has been working well and the solar capability definitely extends battery life. It had a bit more of a learning curve than my other garmin watches, but that has been OK. I can't complain because I knew it in advance, but it would be nice if they had a smaller version for people with small wrists. I will likely change the wristband...the one that came with it is causing some skin irriation, which didn't happen with my previous watches.

Fenix 8 47mm Solar Sapphire

Made the switch from Apple Watch Ultra 2. If you’re looking for more better life, and better training metrics, it’s well worth it. I run GPS activities every day and track strength training daily and I’m getting 12-13 days with the 47mm Sapphire Solar. Much better than the 1.5 days on my Ultra 2. I was deep in the Apple ecosystem and it took me a while to make the switch, glad I did.

Learning Curve

Getting to know all the functions has a steep learning curve. App not the most intuitive (for me). The more I understand the more I like the watch. Wish I could get all the health functions working, but I'm sure I will in time. Over all very happy with the watch.
