I love this cycling computer - I am old and had trouble at 1st but then humbled myself by visiting my local Bike Shop and within seconds the owner made it clear and I am delighted at the larger screen and the accuracy of the 1050. It replaced my very old tiny but helpful Garmin computer and I couldn't be happier. The best part is I only need to charge it once a week or even less often than that.

The Most Comprehensive Bike Computer On Market

I am very happy with the Garmin Edge 1050. The screen is excellent—it looks great even in direct sunlight—and the touch response feels fast and precise. The navigation, maps, and ride data are very comprehensive. I also really like the range of metrics and data you can view while training. Integration with Garmin sensors and accessories works seamlessly, and for anyone who cycles regularly, it is a highly capable and reliable device. After using it, I am very satisfied with the purchase. It is a premium cycling computer, but in my experience, it has been well worth it. The screen colors look excellent—I love them—but because of the high brightness (nits), the battery drains faster than on the Edge 1040. Still, it lasts long enough to handle rides ranging from 3 to 8 hours over several days. This Garmin Edge 1050 would be perfect if there were a solar version and it included a wind sensor, since it seems to have everything else.

Sync Issues

Just had my device for a week and it worked perfectly until today. Now it do not sync and I have tried all your nice suggestions but no. Not happy.

Great But A Learning Process As An Upgrade

Before I get to what I don’t like… this IS a great unit… but coming from a 1030 some of the software changes aren’t a fav… the biggest one being that the map is not in the “rotation” of screens without going through the Home Screen and navigating TO it… I am sure I will learn to be ok with it… but as I used the map feature most of the time… I also do NOT love that you need an emulator if you want to access the file system while using a Mac…it’s 2026… can we get past this already? OR should I say go BACK to how it worked on the 1030??? it’s not ideal for me…

There’s A Reason This Computer Is The Best!

Having had this Garmin for about a month now, I can already say this is the best cycling computer I’ve ever had. I was looking for a wide array of features, customization, and data tracking and this computer goes above and beyond my expectations. The touch screen works well even in rainy weather, the virtual bell is so cool, and one of my favorite features is being able to control menu selection or other features using the shifter buttons via ant plus. My only issues I’ve been having is the connection between my lights and my Garmin goes in and out often over the course of a ride so my lights sometimes go on and off without input.

Coming from a. Edge 840. Great screen size and color. Not ideal for my tri bike setup but great for trainer and regular bike rides.

Edge 1050

WE bought new 1050's about 3 weeks ago, just prior to going on a self guided cycling tour in southern spain, and we loved them! great route and climbing information, as well as rerouting capability, as was needed due to some road construction detours... great screen info and bigger than my older edge 520+

I love the screen size and how it works, I have downloaded different screens and it is outstanding how it works and how it can interact with my other devices. being using it a lot.

My Review Of The Edge 1050

I used to have the Edge 1030 Plus. It stopped syncing with Garmin Connect, so Garmin sent me the Edge 1050. I love it. The courses are much easier to follow----the maps are just easier to read. I love the fact that I can download rides wirelessly and that rides automatically sync to Garmin Connect and Strava. I love the fact that the %grade data seems to reflect the %grade at the moment rather than the %grade from 5 seconds ago.

So far so good. Used for a few weeks. Coming from a 810 so big upgrade. Screen is great. Handy safety features.

A Quality Product, A Bit Expensive.

Nice display and nice battery life, though not as good as the 1040.

Why Did I Wait?

Upgraded from an edge 1030. I absolutely love the sounds of the alerts and the screen visual quality. There are a few minor software items that would make my training better but, it is more me specific rather than a 1050 shortcoming. It boots up quickly, battery last a long time, the built in bell is nice, it pairs with my Di2 perfectly, I wish I had purchased one sooner!! I highly recommend the edge 1050.

Nice, Big Display!

Great cycling computer. Better than all the ones I've owned previously, including Garmin and Wahoo units. But, of course, for the price, and in 2026, it'd better be. I am far sighted now so the big display was the main reason for buying it and it did not disappoint. However, not sure how, but the UI could be improved somehow. Different readings could be shown in different colors, even bigger font? I keep only a few items at a time (3 is perfect) on each screen (data display) to I can read. Electronic shifting gears could be shown in big numbers instead of actual gear as another option? Again, the small fonts do not help me at all, especially when riding at 20+ mph. Colors could be used on each data element (font itself or box background) so that it may show green when perfect value, e.g. for cadence, within a certain (configurable) range; for power, HR, etc. their own configurable range, and so on and so forth. This way, one can quickly glance at the screen and if you see green, you're good, depending on your training goals for that ride. This way, also, if your heart rate is too high, it could be shown with red background box. Heart rate background color could also fade in and out to the rhythm of the heart rate itself, that'd be pretty cool. So many ideas.
