Great Travel Jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't realize how practical this jacket was until I took it on an African safari during the continent's winter months. Roomy for layering, DWR finish has good dust repellancy, chest pocket is very practical, velcro wrist closures really seal out the wind. Plus the jacket (black) looks stylish when entering airport business lounges. Could not be more pleased especially with the sale price.

Nice Jacket Except For The Lining In The Sleeves

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the jacket except for the fleece lining in the sleeves. Putting the jacket on over long sleeve shirts is difficult as the fleece sticks to the shirt like velcro. Change the lining in the sleeves and this jacket would be perfect.

This would be better if it fit properly. I ordered a small, and the jacket goes down to the middle of my thigh. Annoying. Also, whose idea was it to add a draw string to one side of the jacket? It makes the cinch so uneven. If you’re on the shorter side, I’d avoid this one.

Best Buy For Exceptional "Columbia" Men's Jacket

I have had one of these Ascender Water-Resistant Softshell Jackets for past four years and have enjoyed mine more than I can express. The jacket is comfortable and warm and very durable. I am thinking about buying another one, but of another color. Can't pass up an opportunity to take a savings with the company offering a discount!

No Warmth Or Wind Protection

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket looks nice, however it provides no warmth, even on a sunny 55 degree day. Wind cuts right through this jacket. In other words, this is a nice warm day, foggy day, drizzly day jacket, and nothing more. Having shopped Columbia for 20 years, this is the most disappointing Columbia garment I have ever purchased.

Do Not Buy. Zipper

Years ago, I bought this jacket and the zipper slider repeatedly jumped the teeth, Threw it in the back of the closet. Recently, wife buys me the same jacket. Within a day, same problem.

Provides Great Warmth For A Soft Shell Jacket

I purchased the Ascender jacket in March 2024 so I'm not sure if it was the 2024 or 2023 edition. It's not two tone but solid olive green with black accents. I absolutely love this jacket. The fit is great and keeps me warm in temperatures as low as the upper 30°F range.

Good Coat; Cuffs Need Modification

Good coat, but the top piece of velcro on the cuffs sticks out lessening functionality and appeal. Needs a flat strip that attaches to the velcro which will look and function better.

Looks Good But Is A Very Light Weight Jacket.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a very stylish jacket with a clean look for everyday our casual office wear. While it’s fleeced lined it does little to protect from wind or cold. This is for light weight wear and Texas winter. Not for anything below 45.

Bad Quality

My daughter got this for my Christmas present, zipper broke on the second time wearing it. Stitching is also coming out. Poor quality not expected from Columbia. Tbh all of the winter ‘24 line up is bad quality.

Small runs more like S/M. Just a bit airy on my skinny 110 lb freshman.

The quality is good, but the size is too large. I wear L clothes from other brands, and this L one is two sizes larger.
