I did not try it as this summer season as of now. The stuff is soft and stretchable, thick enough to save from sub zero.

I haven't work this hat very much yet, but so far, I like it. It's warm and comfortable. I was a little disappointed that it didn't have a lining on the inside, but it still does the job.
